Fortnite Chapter 2: Update 2.40 Patch Notes fixes incorrect achievement progress

There's a lot going on this week for Fortnite. Not only does the game have a new entry called Chapter 2, but there are lots of new mechanics, vehicles, a handful of new weapons, and a brand new pass. Players who take part in the Battle Pass will have access to a variety of unique costumes, emotes, and special in-game cosmetic items. Epic Games has released the most recent patch notes for the hotfix. 2.40.

The patch notes cover a handful of issues and issues that some players encountered in the first day of play came back online. He had been gone for about 48 hours, stuck in a black hole. At the exit, all was not the same and some players were having problems.

Here are the latest patch notes for the game:

2.40 Patch Notes for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4
  • Fixed an issue in which players would see False Achievements completed. Don't worry: your correct progress is being tracked!
  • Fixed restart issue.
  • Fixed an issue where the screen is cut off / zoomed in on consoles.
  • Fixed issue with settings - including keyboard binding - reverting to defaults.
  • Fixed an issue causing FPS drops on PC.
  • Fixed crash issues.
  • Added network connection improvements.
  • Added fixes for framerate deletion and freezing issues.
  • Improved performance and stability.
  • Added fixes for stuttering / lag issues.
  • Others under the fixed hood.

For players who were getting the incorrect achievement progress bar for something they were not working on, this should now appear correctly on your profile. While this bad bar goes away, players will receive progress for achievements they should have earned.

Another big issue was the incorrect screen format, which was the number of players on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and sometimes PC. This made the screen appear cropped, forcing players to go into their settings to change their appearance. We had an article here discussing how to fix this and what action players should take. If you are still having this problem, check it immediately and make sure your entire screen is displayed correctly.

Fortnite patch 2.40 has already been released, so players should see the changes and download immediately when they enter the game.
