Tips and tricks for completing the Haunted Forest in Festival of the Lost 2020 - Destiny 2

The Festival of the Lost 2020 event has started in Destiny 2. It's the spooky time of year when Guardians have the chance to don their favorite Festival of the Lost mask to participate in an exclusive event, collecting coins of strange chocolates and candies to transform into Eva who coordinates the whole ordeal. She has a lot of prizes waiting for you, but the main event takes place in the Haunted Forest.

The Festival of the Lost will be available from October 6 to November 3, giving players a full month to earn rewards. Each week, players can receive Pinnacle gear by completing at least seven Branches of the Haunted Forest in a single round, which is easier said than done. Here are some methods to make it easier to get the best rewards.

Doesn't reappear until it's forced

One really annoying trait of the Haunted Forest is that when one of your team members dies and resurrects rather than waiting for you to respawn, it starts at the start of the branch. This can throw them back a fair bit of the way, and unless you only have a few enemies to kill before clearing a branch, an ally can take forever to get back to your location. If you die, it's best to wait until a teammate reappears for you, so you start where you left off and don't waste time jumping in the dark to catch up with you.

Use powerful weapons on demons

The demons of the Haunted Forest are incredibly powerful and can be difficult to fight off due to the damage they take. Whenever you see one, it's best to use your powerful weapon against them and not overdo it. You don't want to go too far and use your super against them because you can keep it for the boss. A strong weapon is your best bet and it helps you advance much faster to the next area of the branch.

Keep moving - check your minimap

Advancing forward is essential to completing the Haunted Forest in a timely manner. It's easy to get lost in the dark trying to take out as many enemy NPCs as you can see. If you find yourself lost in the dark, try looking at your minimap to see where the nearest enemy is and to track them down.

Check your modifiers

With each new branch of the haunted forest you enter, things get more difficult. The enemies are more powerful and you have to deal with additional negative modifiers. The common effects are blackout and glass. The former prevents you from seeing your minimap, while the latter halves your shields and health, but your recovery is much faster. Keep an eye out for these, or you might find yourself fired at the start of the branch.

Doors always open

While the goal of the Haunted Forest event is for you and your team to take out the enemies and get to the boss, that doesn't mean you want to give up on opening the doors. If you make it a door and no demon has locked it, open it and keep entering. Your teammates can catch up with you, and they can even kill enemies you missed while you stumbled in the dark to beat the timer. Opening a door introduces new enemies, and the more you kill, the faster you complete a branch.

You have 15 minutes to complete a Haunted Forest, and if you clear seven branches, you earn your weekly Pinnacle Gear loot. By completing this challenge each week, you can earn at least four unique Pinnacle Gear items before the Festival of the Lost ends.
