Fortnite after the black hole, an essential premise

During this week we watched helplessly as our favorite game island was carried away by a black hole that appeared after a meteorite fell. Although physics doesn't allow something like that, we gladly accepted the idea that Epic Games has brought forward to try to renew our favourite battle royale. What the black hole, almost two days after its arrival, has sprouted is a new version o Fortnite f , definitely reworked in many of its features that in the course of this article we will try to introduce to all readers, without going into too much detail, keeping the most important information on the crest of the wave.

Fortnite Chapter 2, as it was called by the developers of Epic Games, in fact has substantial differences with the original chapter due to the introduction of new aquatic mechanics and the reduction of other content, such as the number of weapons present. In addition to all this there is a need to talk in depth about the new game map, completely renewed compared to the past and the addition of many small goodies such as the presence of fishing rods, chests of different types, places to hide or fish to eat to cure instantly. Among the few things that we have virtually identical to last season's game we find the presence of the battle pass, with its exclusive challenges that we'll cover in another guide over the next few days; the prices have remained unchanged and the normal set of challenges that we can find within Fortnite chapter two if completed will offer the player as many as one thousand five hundred V-bucks, more than enough to buy the battle pass without having to go crazy.

It's not every software house to apply such an impressive rehaul to such a highly popular game, which is why I'm banning the chatter and let's see some of the new features of what will probably be the most popular title all year round.

Fortnite chapter 2 - what happened to the game map?

Fortnite Chapter 2: Guide to the Changes, Maps, Weapons

The first big difference that you can grab by starting the title for the first time after the end of the black hole concerns the game map, this time completely divorced from everything we had learned to know and appreciate over the past seasons of the game. Fortnite . At the first start the new map of Fortnite appears as completely obscured and the thirteen locations that compose it rfisult without name, forcing players to explore from top to bottom the new lands set up by Unreal Engine 4.

Compared to the previous map it is undeniable that there are water channels, rivers and waterfalls within the game world; this is due to the addition of a long series of aquatic mechanics, including speedboats, within the game alchemy. The new map can essentially be crossed more quickly by using the speedboats there wisely; these vehicles allow you to reach almost any point on the map and even navigate in the outer sea.

In addition to the usual locations with a name, Fortnite Chapter 2 will allow players to indulge themselves in finding such historic locations. These are nothing but nameless locations on the map but still of some importance within the game's economy; they will probably be used by Epic Games as locations for a large set of challenges that will spread throughout the course of the game for the next few weeks.

The locations that are currently named in the game are

Palpitating Mire
Bruminous Heath
Languid Lake
Trade Course
Holly Hedges
Borgo Bislacco
Sweaty Sands
Frenetic Farm
Foschi Fumaioli
Craggy Cliffs

As you may have already noticed, some of the names on this list come directly from the old locations Fortnite , a sign that not everything was lost with the arrival of the black hole. Some of the historical locations also resemble or take things from the old map of Fortnite .

The watercourses are not the only new features within the game map, we also have a large number of new mountains to keep you company with everything in the title. These further enhance the sense of diverticity within the game map and allow the player to develop strategies that focus on the tactical advantage of staying in an elevated position over the opponent.

To disappear from the game map to take place elsewhere we find instead the neighborhood, this time brought directly within one of the new functions of the Fortnite . The center in evidence collect all the creations of the community of Fortnite and all the alternative modes created over time; all of this content has been created by content creators in close contact with developers, directly at Epic Games headquarters.

Fortnite chapter 2 - modifications to movement mechanics

Fortnite Chapter 2: Guide to the Changes, Maps, Weapons

As already said, the world of Fortnite has been enriched with a whole series of features concerning the aquatic world that will make players smile during the course of this new moment in the life of the game. The many rivers and streams within the game are no longer obstacles to movement, but are perhaps one of the best methods that you can currently use to quickly make large movements. The speedboats are scattered throughout the game map and are the only vehicles currently present in the title; they can accommodate a maximum of four players with a pilot and three passengers; armed with missile launchers they can be used to attack enemy speedboats or even shoot down opponents, especially if you have good aim.

If you are not lucky enough to find motorboats do not give up and try to make the most of the possibilities introduced by the mechanics of swimming. While you are in the water you can shoot but not build; you can shoot and jump! Jumping repeatedly it will be possible, imitating the movements of a dolphin, to move at high speed inside the rivers; be careful of course to what is the course of the current and obviously try to avoid swimming against the current, so as to have as little friction as possible and to speed up your path as much as possible.

If you don't want to get wet but still want to deal with water you can use fishing rods. This new item, present inside the weapons slots, is one of the biggest novelties of the title and clearly shows the commitment made by Epic Games in wanting to renew the title with something completely new. From the offensive point of view the fishing rod can be used to force the opponent to come to us, this, if combined with impossible heights will allow us to get kills without firing even a bullet.

The barrel's greatest utility is obviously another. This weapon can be used at rivers and streams to get objects or fish, to do so you simply need to throw the hook into the water and wait for something to bite. If you cast the hook on one of the water puddles with bubbles (visually characterized by the sudden movement of the waves) you will be able to find slurp fish, able to instantly provide sixty shield points; if the hook will end up on normal parts of the river you can instead put your hands on virtually any other object, with weapons of epic rarity if all goes well.

Fortnite chapter 2 - modifications to gunplay and weapons

Let's talk about the weapons and how they have changed during this new patch. Epic Games for this new patch has decided to thin out the arsenal in a particular way, keeping just a few types of weapons and making a single addition that can slightly change the style of play.

To stay within the game have remained:

  • Gun
  • Heavy Rifle
  • Shotgun
  • Assault rifle
  • Vampafucile
  • Rocket launchers
  • Bolt-action precision rifle

To have been added within the title there is the blindfolded Bazooka. The latter is nothing more than a modified rocket launcher that rather than pull out rockets with high destructive potential, shoots bandages that can cure the player and his teammates, a bit 'like the bomb healers we saw last season X, this item will become a must in the fighting thanks to the ability to cure area players even far away.

In case the treatments are not enough, it will always be possible to pick up your fallen teammates on your shoulders, in order to take them somewhere safe and revive them with all the peace of mind of this world. It will be possible to do so even with opponents who have landed, just for fun, to warm up the most sensitive minds. The title, also trying to add a new layer of complexity to its fights, will allow players to hide inside piles of hay and dumpsters finally allowing you to carry out ambushes worthy of the name, able to give a slightly stealth flavor to the gameplay otherwise too much caciarone and build oriented title.

Fortnite Chapter 2: Guide to the Changes, Maps, Weapons

It's also interesting to note that Epic Games has decided to add a number of extra mechanics to the title such as explosive gas stations or flammable barrels scattered around the game map; rather than disappearing as in past iterations of the title, this time these props will explode as loudly as the rest of the game's productions adding a layer of complexity to combat and build wars; never lay a foundation near something that can explode so simply. Also interesting is the possibility for players to activate bonfires scattered around the game map, to get the same effect as the comfortable bonfire that we know well; this object has been removed from the game, in favor of its fixed version scattered around the map.

The last great novelty of the title is the possibility to upgrade their weapons, not unlike what happens in titles like Realm Royale. The island is now containing work tables through which, using the materials collected as a resource, it will be possible to improve the mouths of fire. For example, with 50 units of wood, 50 units of stone and 50 units of metal it will be possible to transform what was a common (grey) machine gun into an uncommon (green) machine gun, definitely a step forward compared to the past.

This feature should be coupled with the redistribution of weapons and their rarity in the game's fabric. Now it will be virtually impossible to find a 'weapon of legendary rarity on the battlefield, these will be traceable only within particular boxes of different invoice present within the game or within the air supplies that will appear during the final stages of the game.

Fortnite Chapter 2 - battle pass and progression system

Fortnite Chapter 2: Guide to the Changes, Maps, Weapons

One of the most important changes that will hit players with more hours of play on their shoulders will surely be the one concerning the battle pass and the progression system. The first season of this chapter two of the title has printed in the DNA a declaration of intent very clear: less grind, more fun.

In Fortnite Chapter 2 it will be possible to accumulate experience points more easily thanks to the new system of medals. During a game, players will be able to perform a wide range of actions (opening a chest, shooting down enemies, surviving storms, etc.) and will be able to earn medals of valor depending on the results obtained, which will earn experience points for the player.

Obviously the battle pass with its mission challenges have remained on the battlefield, ready to make happy all those who have come up going around map to map in search of chests, enemies and other amenities. The mission challenges that appear in the free challenges are back. This week's one, called the New World, asks players to wander around the designated locations, defeat enemies, and go in search of the historical locations described above as an example.

All experience points, in any case, serve retroactively to advance within the battle pass. It currently includes twenty-three different free rewards including screenshots, sprays, soundtracks and v-bucks; by purchasing the full battle pass for 950 v-bucks you'll get the opportunity to unlock the 100 different rewards prepared by Epic Games for the occasion. For 2800 Vbucks you will be able to purchase the most prestigious battle bundle that adds 25 levels of the pass and all the rewards associated with the offer described above.

At the moment these are the seven skins that you can get by purchasing the battle pass and leveling them:

- Journey vs Extreme (rare) and Turk vs Riptide (rare) - Level 1
- Rippley vs Slime (Rare) - Level 20
- Remedy vs Toxin (rare) - Level 40
- 8 Ball vs Hole Ball (Epic) - Level 60
- Cameo vs Chic (epic) - Level 80
- Fusion (legendary) - Level 100

Each of these costumes has two very different, unlockable styles that make the different skins look like separate costumes. In order to achieve these alternative styles you will need to complete the alter ego challenges, the exclusive battle pass challenge pack that we will be looking at in our guides shortly. For the first time in the history of Fortnite the battle pass has the level cap increased to a maximum of two hundred and fifty levels, which is unique in the history of the title.

Fortnite Chapter 2 - what happened to save the world?

Epic Games hasn't been particularly concerned with changing the dynamics of saving the world and has added very few things to the title's survival mode. This is because, by Epic's own admission, the title mode will be expanded during the coming months as specified in the changelog on the company's website waiting for the free to play mode, announced but still far away in time to us players. With the last update, that 11.00 the title has introduced the new masked soldier inside the gameplay, bringing back to life also Igor Medico Della Peste and Lama of the Wild West (obtainable with 500 event tickets).

Perhaps the most important thing in this update is the improved player absence detector, which will allow the system to more accurately punish non-player users who enjoy ruining other people's games.
