Pokémon GO Articuno Raid Guide - Best Counters (February 2021)

The best Articuno counters in February 2021

We've answered some of the most important questions in our Pokémon GO Articuno raid guide below, but you need a solid team of counters first. The table below gives you the best Articuno counters excluding the Pokémon Mega and Shadow, which we break down below the table.

Using them, the battle against Articuno shouldn't be too difficult, but you can always go further. There aren't any solid Rock-type mega Pokémon to choose from, but you do have a lot of good Shadow options. Shadow Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge, Shadow Aggron with Smack Down and Stone Edge, Shadow Metagross with Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash, or Shadow Aerodactyl with Rock Throw and Rock Slide are all fantastic Articuno counters. Now let's get down to the basics with the Pokémon GO Articuno raid guide.

Guide the raid Pokémon GO Articuno

Here are some frequently asked questions and important tips about the Articuno raids in Pokémon GO in February 2021 during the Pokémon GO Tour: Kanto event.

When the Articuno raids begin and end in February 2021

All three Legendary Birds will be available in Pokémon GO starting from the Kanto Tour event on Saturday, February 20 at 9 a.m. local time. However, while the event only lasts a few hours on this day, there is still a lot going on until the end of the month, including these raids. Articuno will be available until Monday, March 1 at 8 a.m. for your local time zone.

How many players are needed

Articuno is one of the easiest Legendary Raids in Pokémon GO with two high-level players able to defeat one with the top scorers. Of course, you probably won't have a perfect team and a partner who has the same thing, so we recommend a minimum of four trainers.

What weather stimulates the Articuno and the counters

Snow or wind will make you face off against a weather-boosted Articuno, increasing their overall level and increasing their attack power based on movement. Partly cloudy weather will instead give your Rock-type markers a boost, but if Articuno has any ancient power, that will be enhanced as well. If you go out with Fire or Electric attackers, Sunny and Rainy will help you out, respectively.

Which CP for 100% IV for Articuno

Articuno will have the following CP, depending on the weather.

  • 1665 to 1743 CP without weather boost
  • 2082 to 2179 CP with snow or rain

The high end of these means means you've encountered a 100% perfect Articuno IV, so do all you can to catch it. Of course, if it's brilliant it's an automatic capture, more below.

Can Articuno be shiny, how to get shiny Articuno

Shiny Articuno returns for February 2021. Your odds are as good as ever, with one in twenty raids likely to reward you with a Shiny Articuno. The more raids you do, the better your chances of catching one, so do as many as you can while it's available.

And that's our Articuno raid guide for February 2021, with all of the best Pokémon GO counters.
