Is The Outer World an open world game?

The Outer Worlds is the next blockbuster role-playing game from Obsidian Entertainment, the creative minds behind Fallout: New Vegas. They never hesitated to share this little detail when the game was released, and many reviewers agree that this is the best way to think about the game. However, one of the things that makes a Fallout title unique is the direction of the open world. Players can explore how they want and walk around the world. Is The Outer Worlds going to have a similar experience?

Are the outer worlds an open world game?

The Outer Worlds is a great game. It's a title where players will have the opportunity to complete quests to adapt their character and come up with creative mechanics to work in their favor. There is a lot to explore and learn about the sci-fi title. However, it looks like the game isn't precisely an open world where players can freely explore whatever they see.

Players will have the opportunity to explore sections of the different areas of the game at their desired pace, and these are large areas. Players who are waiting for a live Fallout experience may want to stifle those expectations a bit.

Obsidian Entertainment got a chance to chat with Kotaku a bit when the game was first announced. The developer said, “While we're not discussing the exact number of zones, a good context for the approach is to think about what we did in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II, with potentially more ground to be covered and explored in each area ”.

For those who haven't played the 2004 Star Wars RPG, and you should, you've been to several areas of the game and had a chance to walk through them. But you can't immediately go to the later areas of the game. You would explore one area, then move on to the next, then return to older areas. However, these previously visited locations will have small changes to them, depending on the player's choices from their in-game journey.

It is difficult to answer this question because there is a feeling of openness and creativity. But you can't explore everything immediately. You're going to need to unlock things, and there are loading screens between specific larger environments. While it's not a classic open-world definition, there's a lot to do and it's a great game. This is going to take a long time, and you can always do it again too.

The Outer Worlds will release for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC via the Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store on October 25.
