The best weapon skins in Valorant (mid-2020)

It's a well-known fact that having the best weapon skins in any shooter game instantly makes you play better. As Counter-Strike: Global Offensive demonstrated, throwing so many bells and whistles at your AWP sniper rifle instantly makes you look like a hardened killing machine.

All kidding aside, skins are great for adding a bit of personality to your character or, in some cases, showing off your accomplishments. Riots Valorant takes it a step further and adds animations to eliminations after investing in in-game currency. However, having more unique weapons has made many guns in the game very desirable. While the number of skins so far is limited (the game wasn't released publicly until June 2020), there are still a number of silky skins that make killing this Sage foe a little more satisfying.

To avoid including the entire wonderful Elderflame set, we'll only include one weapon from any set in the weapon skins on this list. The appeal of all skins is also subjective, so while we think these are the best skins available, it's worth checking out all of the current skins in the game by going to the Collection screen in the main menu, selecting a gun and riding a bicycle. through to find your perfect fit.

With that said, here are the best Valorant weapon skins starting at the end of July 2020.

Classic avalanche

Probably the weapon you're most used to seeing Valorant, the Classic is the default handgun offered by the game, and while it doesn't quite pack the sheriff's punch or potential. Close to the Shorty, this is still a solid weapon and worth keeping for high capacity cost agents in the half round opening. The Avalanche set is the only one in the game to be animated, which already sets it apart, but the Classic looks especially clean in the wavy blue skin.

Soul Silencer Ghost

If there was a gun of the Agent-specific skins that wrapped up that Agent perfectly, the Soul Silencer Ghost would be the one. Earned by completing Omen's Contract, this skin looks great and adapts perfectly to the character, offering a quieter approach, yet equipped to resemble the fractured soul to which it belongs.

Ancient Flame Operator

From the recent series of Elderflame skins, all of which have a Dragon motif and come with custom animation when shooting and reloading, the Operator variant is the best of a high-quality bunch. Immensely detailed and beautifully modeled, this skin certainly doesn't come cheap, but it instantly makes you look like the coolest player on the team.

Convex spectrum

When it comes to weapons, green is probably one of the hardest colors to make attractive. It's not dynamic and doesn't pair well with the mostly dark palettes that tend to accompany film titles. However, Valorant's Convex Specter skin does a great job of fusing green and silver, and the Specter version is beautiful skin.

Dot Exe Vandale

The cyberpunk genre has seen a huge resurgence in recent times. With Cyberpunk 2077 proving to be the hottest game of 2020, the cyber look and synth theme is very popular. This makes the Dot Exe gun set from The Battle of Season 1 show off an extremely desirable skins set, with a wonderful Tron aesthetic that leaves bright blue lines to give it a truly digital feel. The Vandal skin is the best for showing how cool the set is.

Bucky Kingdom

Similar to the Dot Exe series for its futuristic feel, the Kingdom set opts for a cleaner set, with lots of black and white with streaks of yellow. This is a great set of guns, with the Bucky in particular excellent with excellent color balance.

Oni Melee

Unlike most of the sets from Valorant so far, which generally have a cleaner set of themed aesthetics that feel tied to some of the characters and locations, the Oni series is a bit more garish and out of touch with the game world. Juxtaposing reds and greens with the traditional Japanese Oni mask is more of an acquired taste, but one piece of the set that looks excellent is the melee weapon, which is more akin to a handgun than the rest of the melee skins and uses the Oni mask for a much better effect. If you can manage to kill a knife with this, they certainly deserved it.
