Valheim - Best Armor Sets

Valheim - Best Armor Sets

The best sets of armor and how to craft them.

Troll armor

Quite possibly the very first armor you are going to craft in the game, it would give you a significant boost in your battles and more. Without a doubt a great choice for bow or knife users, as it offers a + 25% increase in your Sneak skill.

Set bonus:

  • 19 armor
  • + 25% furtivity

Materials needed for the full set of troll armor:

  • Troll Skins x25
  • x13 fragments d’os

Bronze armor

It's definitely the best armor in the game! Okay, not really, but since it can be created very early on and has solid stats, it can literally take you to the end of the game with ease, if you decide not to build another set. You just have to be a little more careful with it.

Set bonus:

  • 24 armor
  • -10% movement speed
  • No cape needed

Materials needed for the complete set of bronze armor:

  • x15 Bronze
  • x6 Deer skin

Iron armor

A literal upgrade to Bronze Armor, simply offering the same set bonus, but greater. In my opinion, you should be able to craft this set earlier in the game, which is why I don't consider it an important armor set to hunt, and I also think the amount of materials needed for these parts is important.

Set bonus:

  • 42 armor
  • -10% movement speed
  • No cape needed

Materials needed for the complete set of iron armor:

  • Make x60
  • x6 Deer skin

Wolf armor

By far my favorite set of armor. Not because it has amazingly good stars or anything, but simply because of its beauty and the awesome utility it provides. Not only does this make you pretty much immune to freezing effects, it also frees up your head slot, as it's not needed for the armor set bonus, in order to equip something better. Quite expensive, on the materials side, but well worth it.

* Please note that you only need one piece of the set to get the Frost Resistance buff, but the full set is needed to receive the rest of the bonuses.

Set bonus:

  • 41 armor
  • Frost resistance
  • -20% movement speed
  • No helmet needed

Materials needed for the complete wolf armor set:

  • x44 Silver
  • x16 wolf skins
  • x4 crocs
  • x1 string
  • x1 wolf trophy

Padded armor

Currently the strongest armor in the game. However, this is more likely to change in the near future, as Valheim is still in development and not all assets are included in the game. Oddly, it offers a smaller penalty at movement speed than previous sets, while the rest of his stats are also higher.

Set bonus:

  • 78 armor
  • -10% movement speed
  • No cape needed

Materials needed for the full padded armor set:

  • Make x30
  • Linen thread x55

Honorable mentions

Drake Helmet

Looks cool, it looks cool, it's cool. Not part of a set, but a unique helmet that you can combine with other sets that do not have a helmet slot, namely the wolf armor. Very strong, so literally no reason not to have it on you if you rock this armor.

Set bonus:

  • No
  • 20 armor

Materials needed:

  • x2 Drake trophies
  • x20 Silver
  • x2 wolf skins

Dverger Circle

A piece of gear that you don't even need to craft, this equipable item provides extra light in front of you, making it a perfect choice if you want to explore at night. To get it, you just need to buy it from the Haldor, the merchant in the Black Forest. It costs 620 gold.

There you have it, the best armor in the whole game. I didn't personally design them all as I progressed through the game, as Valheim is generous enough to let you play your way, at all times. I was literally wearing the troll armor until I got to crafting the wolf armor, which I did to attack the mountain biome, so don't feel like you have to have the right gear. more relevant, based on your progress. Enjoy the game as you see fit.

Valheim is now available via Steam Early Access.
