Animal Crossing New Horizons How to build Nook's Cranny

In Animal Crossing : New Horizons, the first official building you can build on your island is Nook's Cranny, a small shop that offers more options than those for sale inside the residents' services tent. Here, Timmy and Tommy sell different options of furniture, wallpaper and floors that change every day. They also sell basic tools, DIY prescriptions, medicines, saplings and flower seeds.

Below we describe in detail the step-by-step process to unlock Nook's Cranny on your island, a very well-stocked emporium that will allow you to improve the island day after day.

How to unlock Nook's Cranny

The second day on the island, Tommy will ask you to help him and his brother build a department store on the island. To do this, you'll need to gather a lot of natural resources:

  • 30 wooden units
  • 30 softwood
  • 30 of hardwood
  • 30 iron

You can get all kinds of wood by hitting trees with an axe and you can hit rocks with an axe or shovel to get iron. We recommend using a shovel and dig two holes behind you before you start hitting the rock; you get more material from a rock if you hit it several times in quick succession.

In a short time, however, you will run out of resources on your island. If you want to collect them all in one day and have Nook's Cranny built quickly, you'll need to travel to another island via the airport. The smaller islands close to your main island are full of resources that can be collected and taken home. Each ticket costs 2,000 Nook at that sort of ATM in the Residents Services tent and guarantees you passage to an island.

After collecting enough resources of each type, hand them over to Tommy in the Resident Services tent and start construction. Nook's Cranny will be built the next day, so if you follow this process quickly, you should have the store by day 3.
