Animal Crossing: New Horizons | How to Build the Museum

One of the most interesting buildings to build on your island in Animal Crossing : New Horizons is the Museum. In order to have one, you need to have the cute owl Blatero among your residents.

Once you arrive on the island, you can start deciding where to put the museum, build it and upgrade it. In this guide, we see all the steps to follow to have a beautiful museum to visit on the island.

What is the Museum for

The Museum in Animal Crossing : New Horizons has an attractive importance, in fact here it is possible to deposit the fossils and everything in particular we can find from day to day.

The Museum can therefore be visited by us and by our friends and will allow us to have useful information about every single object on display. In fact, the owl Blatero will provide us with a wealth of details and the more donations we will make, the richer the history of our Museum will be.

How to unlock the Museum

Step 1 | Give fossils or 5 fish/bugs to Tom Nook

During the first day on the island, Tom Nook will give you the plans to build the net and the fishing rod. After making both for the first time, he will tell you that he would like to "see everything you can catch".

So go out fishing and bring five fish - but you can do the same thing with insects - to Tom Nook as soon as possible. When you get back to him, there will be a new dialogue option: "I found a creature!". Pick this one and give him five.

Nook will then receive a call from our old friend Blatero.

Step 2 | Decide where to place Blatero's tent

Once you arrive on the island, Blatero will tell you that he wants to build a museum, excited to discover what fauna and fossils are present in the place. First, however, you have to find a place to put his tent, just like you did with your tent or what have become the other buildings, such as Residents' Services.

But be careful, wherever you decide to set up Blatero's tent in the end will be the location of the museum itself, so choose carefully.

You'll have to wait until the next day for Blatero to get into his tent, but when he does, make sure you go and talk to him immediately.

Step 3 | Making donations to Blatero

In order to open a proper museum, and not just a tent, Blatero needs help to collect more items to exhibit. You'll need to provide him with 15 more exhibits - we're talking about fish, insects and fossils - to get permission to open the museum to all intents and purposes.

To help you, Blatero will provide you with recipes for the rod that allows you to ford rivers to unlock multiple portions of the island, and the shovel to dig and find fossils.

Once you've provided Blatero with enough finds, he'll get permission to build the actual building.

Step 4 | Waiting for the construction of the Museum

The construction of the Museum is not immediate, you have to wait a few real days before seeing the fruits of your work.

If in the meantime you've found other fossils, other insects or other fish, you can keep them in your house and donate them to the Museum when it's finished.

This is what you need to know to build the museum. Please also read the guide to building Nook's Cranny.
