[GUIDE] Red Dead Redemption 2 All the Stranger Missions

[GUIDE] Red Dead Redemption 2 All the Stranger Missions

If there is any aspect of Red Dead Redemption 2 on which Rockstar Games has definitely not "spared no expense" are the missions.

If you are already wandering in the wild, riding your trusty steed, you will immediately realize the huge number of quests, main and secondary, that the game makes available to you, and that go to increase the number of hours needed to complete the title.

Among these, the missions of the strangers deserve special mention.

These are real side quests, which will be assigned to you by various characters that you will meet in the places that you will visit and, needless to say, are necessary for the 100% completion of the game, as well as obtaining the trophy "A stranger from the West".

In this guide, we will list all the missions of strangers found in RDR 2, telling you where to find them, what to do to complete them and the rewards you can get.

Red Dead Redemption 2 What are the missions of strangers

As mentioned earlier, the missions of strangers are comparable in all and everything to side quests. The only difference, compared to those that you can find normally, is that the first will be assigned by the NPCs, in fact, "stranger", that is not part of the main plot of the game, and often turn into real questline, or in other words, several side quests joined together by a single thread.

According to what is now written, it will be quite easy to come across several missions with the same name, but marked by a progressive number.

At the moment, we have managed to identify about 20 missions of strangers, the rest will be added as we continue in the game. That's why we invite you to visit us often, so you won't miss a single update from us.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Where to find the missions of strangers

The Noblest of Man, and a Woman

How to unlock the mission: The mission will be assigned to you by Jim Boy Calloway / Theodore Levin, in Valentine's saloon. There will be no requirements to be met to access the first part of the questline. However, to access the second, third and fourth questline, you will need to complete the quest "A fine night for debauchery", which you will encounter during the fourth chapter of the game;

What to do to solve the mission: biographer Theodore Levin is working on a text about Jim Boy Calloway, a legendary gunfighter recently passed away. The writer will ask us, to help him in his work, to track down the other four legendary gunfighters who have known Calloway and who may reveal some interesting anecdotes about his life.

All you will have at your disposal to complete the mission are only four photographs of the bandits in question, which, once inspected, will show us where to find them on the map. It goes without saying that we will not have the opportunity to chat with the outlaws in question, but we will immediately move on to the facts or, in our case, the guns.

Immediately after completing this first part, you will learn that Calloway is still alive and has been sighted around Saint Denis. Go there and you will find the bandit and Levin aboard a boat, where they will tell you that Calloway, in order to assert his reputation as a gunman, you will have to reap another victim: his arch-enemy Slim Grant, now a sheriff.

Go to Annesburg and you'll find you have to rescue Sheriff Grant from some bandits. Once that's done, Calloway will challenge him to a duel, but Grant, despite his refusal, will still be cold. Calloway, at this point, will go out of his mind, challenging us too; you will then be forced to kill him, thus ending the questline.

All That Glitters

How to unlock the mission: the mission will be assigned to you by Máximo Cristóbal Valdespino, which you will find in the area South - West of Horseshoe Overlook Camp. You will not need any requirements to access the mission.
What to do to solve the mission: This mission will consist of a real treasure hunt, where we will buy real maps, and from whose illustrations we will have to figure out where to go.

There will be three treasures to find, all quite easy to locate.
Reward: at the end of this treasure hunt, our protagonist will find two gold bars worth $500 each.

The Smell of the Grease Paint

How to unlock the mission: The mission will be assigned to you by Miss Marjorie at the Van Horn Trading Post's Saloon. Again, there are no special requirements to unlock the mission.
What to do to solve the mission: Again, we are dealing with a real questline.

After meeting Miss Marjorie, she will ask us to track down Magnifico, an actor in her company who is currently missing.

Once you've found him and "caught" him, all you have to do is bring him back to Miss Marjorie to complete the mission.
Reward: if, after completing the mission, you decide to attend the performance at the theater, go to the box office at the entrance: you will find a letter of thanks from Miss Marjorie, which will also contain a reward of $40;

Arcadia for Amateurs

How to unlock the mission: The mission will be assigned to you by Albert Mason, in an area south - east of Strawberry. Again, you won't have to meet any requirements to access the quest; however, between missions, you'll have to spend a few days (maybe sleeping).
What to do to solve the mission: Albert Mason is a passionate photographer, whose favourite subjects seem to be wild animals.

In our first encounter, a coyote will steal his bag with the equipment, and we will have to retrieve it. In the second part of his questline, he will be attracting wolves with pieces of meat so that we can take a picture of them; it goes without saying that the situation will evolve in the worst way, and we will have to take out the wolf pack.

Next, we will have to try to attract horses close enough to Albert to allow him to take his picture.

In the fourth part of the questline, we will have to accompany him on a rowing boat to photograph alligators, and finally, in the final chapter of his questline, we will have to accompany him on a high ground: the aim will be to photograph an eagle.

A Bright Bouncing Boy

How to unlock the mission: the mission will be assigned to you, during daylight hours, by Marko Dragic, who we will find in the area of Saint Denis, more precisely near the pond in the park.

In order to access the quest, we will need to have previously completed the mission "The Joys of Civilization", which we will encounter during Chapter 4.
What to do to solve the mission: Marko Dragic is a weird inventor, who will ask us to act as guinea pigs to demonstrate the functionality of a device he designed.

In the first part of the questline, we will have to use one of her inventions (a small submarine) to sink ships and, at the same time, avoid mines.

We suggest you use the L2 button to better succeed in this second part of the enterprise. You will face two rounds: in the first one, the boats will be big and steady, while in the second one they will be smaller and moving.

Immediately after this first part, you will meet Marko Dragic again, at his workshop during the night. In this second part, we'll have to help him in another of his experiments, sticking three electrically conductive poles in the ground, finding three precise points on the map.

After doing this, Marko will ask you to go to a metal tower and activate three switches (they will all have to be facing down).

Finally, a few days after the experiment in question, when we see the icon appear again at his laboratory, we'll have to visit him again.

In case it doesn't appear, camp outside the structure and sleep for a few days in the game. The moment you see the icon in question, come in, discover Marko's fate, and you will have finished his questline.

Reward: You will unlock the Artificial Intelligence trophy.

The Mercies of Knowledge

How to unlock the mission: the mission will be assigned to us by Prof. Andrew Bell III in the Saint Denis area. As a prerequisite to access the quest, we must first have completed the mission "The Joys of Civilization", which we will encounter during Chapter 4.
What to do to solve the mission: as soon as we meet him, the professor will ask us to provide him with a supply of liquor called Moonshine, specifying the scientific purposes of the request.

At this point, we will have to head to Alden, the clerk at the Rhodes station, who will give us all the tips to intercept a large delivery of this liquor.

Head north of Saint Denis and, once you arrive on the wooden bridge, you will see a wagon with two people leading it and several armed guards. Take out everyone with the Dead Eye and drive the wagon to the Professor's residence.

Once there, Bell will tell us that the purpose of our actions was only one: to build an electric chair! At this point, we're gonna need someone to conduct an execution on.

Go to the sheriff's office and pay the amount you will be asked to take care of the next execution yourself.

The chosen subject will be a certain Wilson McDaniels, a bandit you will find in the area north of Saint Denis. After capturing him, we will hand him over to the Professor, who will decree his execution not long afterwards, concluding the questline.

The Artist's Way

How to unlock the mission: the mission will be assigned to us by Charles Châtenay, an artist we will find in the Saloon north of Saint Denis.

To access the quest, you will need to have previously completed "The Joys of Creation", a mission we will encounter during Chapter 4.
What to do to solve the mission: after meeting Charles, and after saving him from a man who was threatening him, we will be invited to his vernissage.

Also on the occasion of his exhibition, there will be no shortage of problems, because of the "scandalous" subjects of his paintings. After accompanying him to a safe place, and after a few days to calm the waters, we will meet Charles dressed as a woman again, with the declared aim of escaping from the city.

We will have to escort him to a vaporetto but, of course, on our way we will find several people seriously intent on teaching our artist a lesson. As soon as Charles has arrived at his destination, we will have completed his questline.

Idealism and Pragmatism for Beginners

How to unlock the mission: the mission will be assigned to you by Mayor Henry Lemieux, in the area northwest of Saint Denis, during the night.

In order to access the quest, it will be necessary to have first completed "The Gilded Cage", a mission we will encounter during Chapter 4, and to have received and read the letter sent to us by Lemieux himself.
What to do to solve the mission: After reading the mayor's letter, having previously collected it from a post office, go to his residence during the night and meet him.

Lemieux will tell us that we are best placed to resolve a political issue in a "politically incorrect" manner. Get into the carriage, driven by the mayor's assistant, until you reach a person who "has to change his mind" about certain photographs.

A few days after the mission, you will receive a second letter from the mayor. Meet him again in his house during the night.

This time, funds will have to be raised for a Library, and to donate them will have to be a wealthy man, whom you will have to properly "persuade". Do as he says, and go back to Lemieux, and report your success to him.

As soon as you are back, you will have to solve another problem on behalf of the Mayor: you will have to take care of his assistant, who has rebelled against Lemieux's unorthodox methods.

Reach the assistant at his house, beat him and convince him to follow you to the mayor's house. Avoid all the guards you will find on your route and, in the end, you will be called to a choice that will affect your level of honor.

He's British, of Course

How to unlock the mission: The mission will be assigned to you by Margaret, in an area west of Bluewater Marsh, in Lemoyne.

The only requirement required to access the quest is to have completed Chapter 2 of the game.

What to do to solve the mission: You will meet Margaret near her overturned caravan.

He is a tamer of fighting animals, but they all escaped, preventing him from making his show. The weird individual will ask us, therefore, to search for his exotic animals (a zebra, a lion and a tiger), and to bring them back to him as soon as possible. Once this first request has been completed, Margaret will ask us to retrieve another lion, since her carriage is short of them. Follow the directions and be as cautious as possible, so as to capture the beast. Once this mission is also completed, go back to Margaret's caravan to collect your reward, and you will have completed the questline.

Reward: Once you have completed the questline, you will receive a gem worth $250;

The Iniquities of History

How to unlock the mission: You will receive the mission from Jeremiah Compson, an NPC that you can find cyclically on a bench in front of the Rhodes station. To access the quest, however, you must have completed Chapter 2 of the game.

What to do to solve the mission: Jeremiah looks like a homeless drunkard and when we talk to him, he will tell us that he has lost everything, asking us to recover the three objects that still have value for him: a watch, a gun and a ledger.

The house of Jeremiah will be to the north of us, and we can enter it from the south side. The clock will be on the chimney in the first room.

Interacting with the image placed on the other fireplace, you will realize that there is a trapdoor in the room, and two squatters in the house will also appear to threaten us.

After taking them out, pick up the gun, go down using the trapdoor and you will find the ledger at the end of the corridor, lying on a crate. Once you bring the items back, the book will reveal Jeremiah's dark past, and you will have to make a choice for your level of honor.

No Good Deed

How to unlock the mission: The mission will be assigned to us by Dr. Alphonse Renaud, an NPC who we will meet during Chapter 3 in the clearing in front of the Church of Rhodes.

The requirement for access to the quest is to have completed the mission entitled "The Course of True Love", which we will always come across during Chapter 3.
What to do to solve the mission: in this case, we will have to recover the wagon, with a supply of medicines inside it, which was stolen from Dr. Renaud.

We will come across it North-East, near the river, and once there we will have to deal with bandits. As soon as we take the wagon back to its rightful owner, we will finish the quest and get our reward.

Reward: a pamphlet on health care.

Help a Brother Out

Although this mission is marked as a quest of strangers, you should know that it is a side mission of the plot. Playing this mission will therefore be indispensable in obtaining the "I Help You" trophy.

How to unlock the mission: this mission will be assigned to us by Brother Dorkins, a monk we will meet in the area east of Saint Denis, intent on asking for money.

The requirement for access to the mission consists, in this case, in having completed the quest "The Joys of Civilization", in which we will come across the very first lines of Chapter 4.

What to do to solve the mission: the monk, after receiving a donation from you (which will increase your level of honor), will ask you to free some slaves. Go to the store, and you will realize that by interacting with the red book you will find on the shelf, you will realize that the shelf in question can be removed. Do this, go further and you will find slaves that you must free.

Do so, go back to Dorkins and, if you wish, refuse his offer to return the money to you.

Oh, Brother

There's a little note to be made about this mission. Unlike the others listed above, subsequent parts of the questline will not be highlighted on the game map.

That's why you'll need to talk to any new strangers you meet in order to go further.

How to unlock the mission: to obtain this mission, you'll need to contact Proetus & Acrisius, who we'll find in front of Valentine's general store.

The requirement for access to this quest is that you have already passed The Gilded Cage, a mission we encountered during Chapter 4.

What to do to solve the mission: we will find Proetus and Acrisius, two twin brothers, intent on fighting in front of the emporium. The reason is soon said: they are in love with the same woman, Helena, and want to prove their worth to her.

In the first part of the questline, they will ask us to shoot bottles placed on their heads, which will be smaller and smaller.

After this, the two of them will leave with Helena and, after a few days of waiting, we will find them fighting again, and this time we will have to punch them. Hit them in the face, in the abdomen, and... and in the lower parts.

Still, though, there's still no "winner".

A few more days, and you'll find the two brothers at the top of Cumberland Falls, intent on their last challenge.

Reach them at the end of everything, and you will have completed their questline.

Fundraiser

How to unlock the mission: the mission will be assigned to us by an unnamed female NPC, who we will meet in the North-West area of Saint Denis.

There is no requirement to access the quest.

What to do to solve the mission: The woman in question is intent on raising funds to expand Quincy Harris Memorial Hall, and will try to leverage your generosity.

It will be up to you to decide: you can donate $20, and raise your Honor level a bit, or decide to steal the money in her box, and get a decrease in Honor.

Reward: Honor.

The Ties That Bind Us

One small premise: unlike all the other stranger quests mentioned above, parts III and IV of this questline will not be highlighted on the game map.

Precisely for this reason, to go further you will have to get closer and talk to every new stranger you meet.

How to unlock the mission: the mission will be assigned to us by Mr. Black and Mr. White, two members of the Chain Gang, in the area south of Rhodes, not far from the train tracks.

The requirement to unlock the quest is to have completed "The Joys of Civilization", a mission we'll encounter during Chapter 4.

What to do to solve the mission: you will find the two NPCs arguing with each other on a hill not far from the train tracks.

Judging by their clothes, they look like they just escaped from prison. Precisely for this reason, they will need new clothes, but they cannot enter the city because of the posters with their faces.

It will be up to you to remove them, paying attention to one of them in particular, who is in the possession of a bounty hunter on horseback, who you will have to unbuckle and knock out, and then take the poster away from him.

A few days after the conclusion of this first part, we will meet again the two shady figures in the Rhodes area, and discover that they are in urgent need of medication.

If you already have them, give them yours, otherwise go and buy them. The last meeting with the two ex-convicts will take place in the area north of the Great Valley, near a tree house they built.
