How Dynamax Soup works in the Pokémon Sword and Shield Isle of Armor expansion

How Dynamax Soup works in the Pokémon Sword and Shield Isle of Armor expansion

The first expansion for Pokémon Sword and Shield, Isle of Armor, brings many first generation Pokémon and gives them a unique look with new Galarian forms. The release date trailer showed a lot of these new forms, such as the modified legendary birds Moltres, Zapdos, and Articuno. The trailer also showed many trainers gathered around a large table, about to enjoy a cooked meal. But the cooked meal will go beyond the traditional curry that the players had made in their camps. Upcoming meals will be available so that Trainers can feed it to their Pokémon, which has the potential of Dynamax and allow it to become Gigantamax.

The new soup fits alongside the mechanic introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield, where Pokémon have a Dynamax form, which is the larger-than-life transformations. A Pokémon that Dynamaxes has extra health, more powerful moves, and improved stats. It's a great way to turn the tables against a trainer in a battle, and it comes with plenty of strategies for choosing the best time to transform your Pokémon. In Dynamax form, the Pokémon's body grows larger but doesn't change too significantly.

Gigantamax Pokémon are a unique variety of Dynamax where their appearance changes with their size. Only certain Dynamax Pokémon could also have Gigantamax form, but the new Gigantamax Soup will allow trainers to unlock Pokémon's Gigantamax potential if they can use Dynamax.

Gigantamax Soup will unlock new appearances for Pokémon as they transform, giving them access to new G-Max moves. G-Max moves are considerably more powerful than a traditional Max move, which Dynamax Pokémon can use. How Trainers go about acquiring this soup remains a mystery until we learn more from the Isle of Armor DLC Pack.

We'll have more information on how Trainers can acquire this soup once the DLC is released, and we'll make sure to update this guide on June 17th.
