A new item added to Pokémon Sword and Shield with The Isle of Armor DLC expansion is called Armorite Ore. You can use it as a currency with some of the NPCs on the Isle of Armor. When you offer it to them, NPCs are more than willing to do things that are painful for you, like digging up Watts or trying to get more Armorite Ore by digging it up and teaching your Pokémon new moves.
You encounter Armorite Ore shortly after completing the first task in the Master Dojo. You will reach this point by naturally continuing the story of Isle of Armor. Each player will receive five at the start. You can also find them in shiny locations all over the Isle of Armor to add more to your collection.
After receiving these five coins, you can use them to trade with Digging Ma and Pa. Pa is at a static location in Training Lowlands, and you can approach him to trade Armorite Ore so he can dig up Watts. . The first time you meet him, he gladly offers his service for free. Dig Ma is no longer on the move and bounces around the Isle of Armor. You won't find it too often in one place because of its rotation. When you find her, she'll ask you for Armorite Ore to dig further, but there's a good chance her shovel will break, causing you to lose more. You can risk this bet.
Another NPC that you may encounter after choosing your Squirtle and Bulbasaur is someone you can only talk to after progressing through Isle of Armor history. The NPC is one of the fighters in the Master Dojo, to the right of the battlefield. Talk to him to teach your Pokémon one of these available moves:
