In order for your Sim to go to a gym, you need to be around your city. You can start traveling by clicking the M button, clicking on the phone in the lower left part of the screen, or by clicking on the map located on the right side of your screen. Before you travel, you need to make sure you highlight the correct Sim that you want to transport to the gym.
After clicking on your wish to travel, you'll switch to a new screen to view the different places you can send to your Sim, such as the park, cafe, library, recreation center, or gym. Click on the gym, and they should immediately get to the place. When they arrive at the gym, your Sim has several options available to them, such as using a treadmill, weights, a punching bag, or a pool if one is available.
However, the area your Sims travel to must have a gym. If your city doesn't have a gym, then your Sim needs to go to a location where there is one to visit. Most traditional towns should have one. If you don't have a gym in your town, you will need to purchase some training equipment for your Sim and place it somewhere in your house. These devices are a bit expensive, but you can place them in your house, so you can have your Sim workout whenever they have time.
Training is an essential feature for your Sim to keep them in good shape, and visiting their city's gym saves you money rather than buying equipment. Make sure you don't work them too hard though. You don't want them to be completely exhausted before they start a day at work.
