The Lectern is used to store books for multiple players to read in multiplayer mode. It is a block used for reading books and serves as a workbench for the villager librarian, added in the Village & Pillage update.
Thanks to the lectern, several players can now read a book on the lectern at the same time, so that infinite copies are no longer needed. In addition, it generates a redstone signal that varies according to the number of pages turned while reading.

Although you can craft a Lectern, it is not the only way to get one, you can also find one. To do this you just need to find a village spawned after update 1.14 and locate a library. If the village has it, it will probably have a lectern as well.
This is definitely the quickest way if you are near a village, as the crafting process can be a bit more tedious. If you are unlucky or prefer to do it yourself, then move on to the next point.
Crafting a Lectern in Minecraft

Like many other items, the lectern can be crafted on the crafting table, but to do so you will need to get four wooden slabs and a shelf. In the case of the slabs there is no major complication, you can make them with 3 wooden blocks in a row and you will get 6 slabs.
On the other hand, the process to make the shelf is a bit more complicated and time consuming. You could obtain the shelf directly by using a tool with the “silk touch” enchantment and mining it from a library. Otherwise all you would get would be the three books used in its crafting.
