Bowser's castle is overrun with bent soldiers, and evil scissors rule this area. The Double-Bladed Duelist slices anyone who gets in his way, and his boss battle is quite intimidating. Along with the regular Folded Soldiers, you'll also face new Cup Soldiers and a sneaky Serpentine Boss who tries to steal your friend Olivia. Here's how to handle everything in the game.

Bowser's Castle Walkthrough

The castle is overrun with folded soldiers! Thankfully, Kamek's pep talk prepared the entire minion workforce for a fight. They burst into the castle and begin to brawl, clearing a path for Mario and his friends to reach the second floor. It's a clear path to the save block where Bowser Jr. kicks in the boss door.

Quest: Obtain the Key to Bowser's Castle

At the boss's door on the second floor, you'll find that Bowser Jr. can't get through. You need to find Kamek's spare key in his quarters - go back down and enter through the door on the right side.

Combat tip: If you meet enemies here, you just need to defeat the folded soldiers! Don't worry about all the regular paper minions - you can ignore them. They don't need to be defeated or aligned.

For each fight in the ballroom, you will earn 1 coins. It's a great reward! Very handy if you unlock the legendary Shangri-Spa shop. Purchase all the equipment you need for this dungeon.

Through the right door, Kamek will help Mario clear the rubble on his way. Until he mysteriously disappears in front of the hallway full of coins.

Collectible treasure: Paper Macho Chain Chomp - Located in the second gate of the east wing of Bowser's Castle.

Collectible treasure: Macho Piranha Paper Factory - In the fifth room in the hallway, look behind the treasure chest rather than inside. There is an enemy hidden inside!

At the Kamek Hallway, you can get treasures to collect in the second and fifth rooms. The fourth room contains a hidden block with a shining Hurlhammer - it's behind the fallen chair.

How to find Kamek's room: Kamek's bedroom is the third door in the east wing hallway. But there is no door! To make it appear, hit the wall where the door should be three times with your hammer. The portrait of King Ollie will drop and reveal a magic circle of 1000 arms.

Use the magic circle to reveal the door and you will find a surprise in Kamek's room. It's Luigi! And he has the [[Key to Bowser's Castle]! Your brother won't stay long. He will run away and a strange specter will seize Olivia. Back on your way, you will encounter a swarm of Big Cutout soldiers.

Big Cutout Soldiers are normal, but Small Cutout Soldiers have a strange twist: They are unfolded in several rows of the ring arena! Turn the ring to fold them into one shape. If you're struggling to resolve these issues, just try lining up at least two or three to defeat more per turn.

Go up the stairs to the save block and unlock the big door to Bowser's castle. In advance, you will meet another boss!

Pattern: Handaconda

This is the creature that captured Olivia. Unfortunately, this creature pushes nearby Attack tiles away - instead, you must attack from a ring farther away. You can't attack too close or too far. You can only attack with the hammer - Starter attacks will automatically be countered.

Attack with the outer edge of your Hammer's cooker! Try to aim for a Damage Tile x2 to boost your attack, and use a Legendary hammer to really crush that boss. Do enough damage and you'll free Olivia so you can use all of those magic circles.

But there is another wrinkle in the fight. Once Olivia is free, the Handaconda will transform all the magic circles into rock Paper Scissors floor tile. If you win, you'll score a rushed attack on the boss. The trick is to pick the right shot.

The boss goes always have your next move visible. Look closely at the hand to see which one it is about to use: rock, paper, or scissors. If you don't know how to play, here are the counters for each type.

The hand gets bigger after each loss, so it's easier to see which symbol the Handaconda will use next. Check this hand and the counter appropriately! For example, if the hand is scissors (two fingers raised), you must land on the Rock tile. If the Hand is Rock (a closed fist), you must land on the Paper tile. Score three wins and this boss is beaten!

Defeat the boss and continue to the next room. Use the save block before approaching the green streamer, as Mario must face off against the Guardian - scissors!

Before the boss battle starts you will have to defeat the scissors Male Paper Monster. Crush the flying koopa heads with your hammer, then dodge the magic attacks. Shoot Kamek sticker monster nose - it will take three attempts, and after each attempt the Paper Macho monster will cast more magic spells before getting stunned.

When Kamek is free, you can use normal hammer attacks to defeat the Buzzy Beetle. Just hit the underside, then hit it a few more times to win. But your reward is only a duel against the big boss of the region.

Boss: scissors

Scissors immediately envelop its blades - and we don't want to damage the lid! To avoid damaging the sheath, be sure to use only the correct attack to hit the handle only. Use Hammer attacks if the grip is low and use Boot attacks if the grip is high.

To make the first part complete faster, grab the chest and collect +1 Action or Damage tiles x2 to increase your attack power. Do enough damage, and the scissors will draw anyway.

When he is drawn, he will charge his super attack! The scissors also cut all the magic circles - there's nothing you can do to stop it this turn. Opt for the chest to spawn new magic circles and aim for a hammer attack. While it is charging, you can still damage it.

How to dodge: To avoid damage from super scissor attack, press [[A] just as he's about to cut to jump over the attack! Mario will avoid it safely!

To deal insane damage with the scissors, freeze them with an Ice Vellumental attack, then use 1000 bent arms on the pair of Ice Clippers.

Another boss does. Use the magic circle to crush the green streamer. This is the last streamer - so Peach's Castle is finally free! But getting there is another story.

Quest: How to Reach Peach's Castle

Go back down to the first floor of Bowser's Castle and enter the room on the left. There is a simple laser puzzle that you need to solve to get into the safe - hit the red switch on the bottom left and connect the lasers to the red light on the top right.

To solve the puzzle, just follow the image above. Hit the statues to direct the light like this, and you will unlock the safe.

Collectible treasure: Cut Up Soldiers - In Bowser's chest, go right to find this chest.

In the safe, travel left and hit the big red button with your hammer to release Bowser's airship! It's the perfect ride to storm Peach Castle. Stop by the save block and buy some healing / legendary weapons at the Shangri-Spa before setting off on your final adventure.
