Before the July 7 update, you should visit PokeStops to find Team Rocket Grunts. Beating the growls will ultimately lead you to their bosses, ultimately pitting you against Team Rocket boss Giovanni. Things basically work the same now, except the Team Rocket Grunts are attacking from the sky! They will appear in balloons and a tap on the map screen will initiate a battle.

Team Rocket GO | New changes
Team Rocket Go appears in balloons! As before, if you fight them you will have a chance to defeat all three Rocket GO team leaders, or even face Giovanni for a special reward. Here is how it works.
- Team Rocket GO growls will appear in balloons on your map screen! To fight them, just tap the balloons. New balloons will appear every few hours, and more balloons may appear during takeover events.
- The great thing about this feature is that you can still fight without going out.
- À fight the leaders of Team Rocket GO, equip a Team Rocket GO radar! Cliff, Arlo, and Sierra can also appear in a balloon.
- Earn a Super Rocket Radar for summon Giovanni. Even Giovanni will appear in a balloon once you unlock the Super Rocket Radar. Just like the regular Rocket Radar, equip and activate it to spawn Giovanni's balloon.
