Is the Porygon decoding ticket worth buying?
So let's get to the question of whether it's worth buying the Decoding Porygon Special Research Ticket first. Currently, we don't have all the information on what the ticket will be, but Niantic has followed the same formula quite closely for each community day, so we can make a very educated guess.
The real goal of any Pokémon GO Community Day is to catch as many Pokémon as you can, especially their shiny variant, and evolve them while they still get their special move. In Porygon's case, this is Tri-Attack, a potentially valuable move for PvP matches. However, the Decoding Porygon ticket only helps you with one of them. The rewards for the previous Community Day special research tickets were candy for the featured creature as well as various other items to help them catch or strengthen them. This one will likely also contain additional buffs and Sinnoh Stone, which are needed to evolve Porygon.
However, you could have a lot of all of this, so if the Decoding Porygon Ticket is worth it for you, it probably depends on how much Porygon Candy, Upgrades, and Sinnoh Stone you have. Still, the rewards have always been worth at least the registration fee whether you need it or not, but more information will be updated below.
How to complete the special Porygon decoding search
Currently, we don't have the full process and steps to complete the Porygon Decoding Special Finder, but we'll update as soon as they are available. Based on previous Community Day tickets like this, the tasks will be straightforward and easy. Most will be to catch more Porygon, with the occasional “doing 3 big throws in a row” or “using X berries to catch Pokémon. Check back for a full update closer to the event, likely late Saturday night on the East Coast.
What are the rewards, what do you get
Watch for another update here closer to the event, when full details of the Decoding Porygon ticket are revealed. Until then, we can speculate based on past events. For Magikarp, we received quite a bit of candy and an encounter with the Gyarados, so it's possible that you can get a Porygon2 or Porygon-Z even without the required evolution items. Tacking on Stardust, Poké Balls, and other supplies and players without a full inventory stuck could be worth it.
