The best fighter loadouts in Star Wars: Squadrons

The fighter class in Star Wars: Squadrons will be your choice of hybrid fighters from the options. You can choose to make it an ideal choice for fighting the various other enemy fighters flying near you, or you can choose to make it an ideal option for attacking your enemy's capital ship. Some pilots may want to choose their components to use a variety of tools, capable of manipulating star hunters, but capable of severely damaging capital ships when given the chance.

Equipment 1 - The Anti-Starfighter

  • Auxiliary 1: ionic missile
  • Auxiliary 2: multiple locking missile
  • Countermeasure: sensor inverter
  • Engine: Microthrust Engine
  • Shell: deflector shell
  • Primary weapon: rapid fire cannon
  • Shield: fortified deflector

Confronting enemy star hunters will be your main priority with this build. You can use the Ion Missile to start things up, lower their shield, and then use the Explosion Cannon to destroy them steadily. The rapid-fire cannon deals decent damage from a distance, but it's great to use when getting up close. The micro-thrust motor should be able to keep your enemy in line of sight, and you can still use the multi-lock missile to finish off multiple targets. When you start to receive hits, your Fortified Deflector Shield will be able to absorb most attacks, and the Deflector's shell makes it even stronger. The downside is that once your shields are down, you're in trouble.

For TIE fighters, you want to deactivate the deflector shell and the reinforced deflector. You can't use shields, so try using the shock shell.

Loadout 2 - Balanced Dogfighter

  • Auxiliary 1: Proton bomb
  • Auxiliary 2: beam cannon
  • Countermeasure: research warheads
  • Engine: Jet / Ion Jet Engine
  • Hull: Reinforced hull
  • Primary weapon: laser / explosion cannon
  • Shield: Ray Shield

Enemy fighters aren't the only thing you need to worry about as there are a lot of ship and heavy frigate capitals to fight with. Both will be how you get the victory, so with the proton bomb and the beam cannon you can deal big damage to them. The proton bomb is more of a close-range bomb for capital ships, but it can work against both, especially if the pilots get too close. Seeker warheads should protect you from heavy missiles, but for a short pass. Your plasburst laser cannon should be useful for any engagement, the downside being that you have to charge it for a few seconds before firing.

Equipment 3 - Anti-capital ship

  • Auxiliary 1: Ionic Torpedo
  • Auxiliary 2: Proton torpedo
  • Countermeasure: sensor inverter
  • Engine: SLAM engine
  • Shell: shock absorber shell
  • Primary weapon: rotating cannon
  • Shield: Resonating Shield

You have a few options for this version. Torpedoes are the way you open up against the capital ship, expose it, and deal damage to certain parts. After that, your rotating cannon, powered by the resonant shields to replenish quickly and more power from the SLAM engines, giving you plenty of firepower to destroy critical parts of the ship. The downside is that you are slightly exposed, but your opponents have a hard time targeting you with lockdown abilities.

Equipment 4 - Capital protection

  • Auxiliary 1: Cluster Missile
  • Auxiliary 2: ion bomb
  • Countermeasure: glitter particles
  • Engine: Microthrust engine
  • Hull: Reflec hull
  • Primary weapon: ion cannon
  • Shield: ray shield

Being an offensive pilot is great, but you also need to protect your capital ships. With this build, you can hang on to your bigger ships and wait for enemies to come to you. You can lay out an Ion Bomb when they get too close, forcing their shield down, or use your Ion Cannon to remove their shield. Without your shields, your cluster missiles can do a short job, but you also want to use the capital ship's turrets, and an enemy without a shield can't survive those hits. Your micro-pusher motor ensures you can drive them away, and the glitter particles can be used to shield you or the capital ships from missiles or any lockdowns.
