Crusader Kings 3 - What are the lifestyles

Lifestyles in Crusader Kings 3 offer perks and traits that improve you in a specific playstyle.

You can access your lifestyles by clicking on the circular icon next to your ruler portrait in the lower left corner of the palette. Lifestyles are broken down into five categories, each corresponding to one of Crusader Kings 3's main attributes: Diplomacy, Martial, Stewardship, Intrigue, and Learning. Each character will have a certain number of points in each of these five attributes, and they will give you an idea of which lifestyles will be most useful to them.

For example, King Murchad is good at Martial, so the Martial Lifestyle perks will work well for him. It also means that you will want to assert your claims and wage war with him as a ruler more often, as the martial advantages are suited to this style of play. at home and abroad, you'll want to switch to diplomacy, but his weak diplomacy means he won't be great at it. That doesn't mean you have to ignore the diplomatic lifestyle with King Murchad entirely - adjusting to where you are today is essential to your success in Crusader Kings 3 - but if you want to get rid of a good old war. want to do it while Murchad wears the crown.

The lifestyle experience is gained in two ways: passively and through narrative events. As you can see in the focus to the right of the Lifestyles HUD, you will gain a set amount of experience for your selected lifestyle per month, and if your ruler was educated in a specific lifestyle as a child, she will earn a percentage. bonus based on this amount. Additionally, story events will emerge that are tailored to both the overall lifestyle you are focusing on right now and the literal goal you have chosen.

To keep Murchad's benchmark: he is currently following the Chivalry Concentration in Martial, so he will experience general segments of martial history and segments built entirely around the Chivalry Focus. Depending on your choices, these may give you temporary characteristics and experience, so pay attention to what is on offer and choose what best meets your needs.

Children can be educated by adults in Crusader Kings 3, and you'll want to match them with someone who has a high attribute of the lifestyle the kid is focusing on. The better their education, the more benefits they will have unlocked by the time they become adults. This means that it is extremely important to at least manage the education of your heirs: you will eventually be playing the role of one of them, so you will want to mold them for the role you want them to take. Don't sleep on the education of your heirs if you want to maximize your lifestyle bonuses before they ascend to the throne.

You can change your primary lifestyle goal at any time, but you'll have to wait five years between changes to start over. If you want to change which of the five categories you gain experience in, just go to that category and select one of the three priorities to move. Perks can also be reset, but there are a few captures. First, you will only refund perk points to trees that have been leveled. Second, you can only reset perks once in the life of a rule, and you will take 100 stress hits for doing so. Think of it a bit like a midlife crisis. You won't always need to do this, but if you find that your current set of benefits isn't helping you in your current situation, the option is there.
