Genshin Impact Domain Guide

Genshin Impact has three types of domains, although only two are repeatable for additional rewards.

Genshin impact domains are the diamond shaped icons on the map and the domain type is indicated by what is in the center of the diamond. Standard, repeatable has a blue orb in the center, while once and weekly has a blue diamond. It's important to know the difference, as you'll want to unlock normal Abyss Domains as soon as they become available (Adventure Rank will play a role). The Spiral Abyss is technically an area, but the way it works makes it an entirely different beast that deserves its own guide.

The Advanced Areas are a lot like the ones you come across during Genshin Impact's story, and are worth clearing out as soon as you are at the right Adventure Rank and Character Level to do so. The rewards from these are pretty decent, but they don't reset, so there's no reason to wait to grab the goods. Trounce domains share the same icon, but these are reset weekly. As of this writing, there is only one Trounce domain: Stormterror's Lair, and you need to be Adventure Rank 25 to access it (that's of course after the “story” version of the fight). Trounce Domain and other weekly boss rewards cost 60 Original Resin to claim and can drop 4 and 5 star weapons.

Genshin Impact's Abyssal Domains have different Adventure Rank requirements, although you will start to see them gradually unlock from Adventure Rank 16 (Scythe Domains, for weapon ascension materials). Next, you will need to complete the prologue chapter of the Archon quest and reach Rank 22 to unlock the initial levels of the Domains of Blessing, which contain artifacts. Mastery Realms, which contain higher talent level materials, are unlocked at Adventure Rank 27. Abyss Realm rewards cost 20 Original Resin to claim.

Thus, the complete breakdown by type, name, zone and rank of adventure is:

Domains of Counterfeit (Weapon Ascension Mat)

Domains of Blessing (Artifacts and Explicit Sets)

Mastery Areas (Talent Level Mat)

Keep in mind that there are multiple levels of increasing difficulty for each area of Genshin Impact, so check with each one to see what the next Adventure Rank requirement is. Usually the highest are in the 30s for now, and the higher the difficulty level, the greater the “scarcity” of dropped materials. Essentially, you should take them out as they appear, and keep both your character and weapons up to date with the materials you can farm.

A few final notes before we wrap up this guide: You can check which areas are available in Genshin Impact by checking both the map and the Adventurer's manual. The card has a toggle at the bottom left that will filter out everything except domains, and each will have their associated reward type listed under their name. The Adventurer's Manual has a dedicated Areas tab that lists all possible rewards and allows you to place a waypoint on the map. Use these two tools to filter out the noise when you get to grind areas. Last bit: You can use Alchemy to convert lower level drops from realms to higher level variants, assuming you are at the same Adventure Rank as the realm those higher level items fall into.
