iPhone X: in a year will do more

iPhone X is a borderless smartphone, whose 5.8 ”OLED screen occupies most of the front surface. There are only three buttons on this smartphone and no, among them the home button is no longer present. That key that made the history of the iPhone, which has become truly iconic, has now disappeared. And in all likelihood, Apple will no longer reintegrate it on its next devices (perhaps because all the next iPhones will be aesthetically in line with the iPhone X).

The user experience, therefore, has radically changed.

In fact, gestures have been introduced that completely replace, and perhaps better, the home button.

What do iPhone X users think?

There have been numerous criticisms from this point of view: the fans even before trying it have harshly criticized it, for the simple fact that Apple wanted to break with the previous tradition. But still, numerous users have begun to judge the new iPhone X as what it is not. There are those who have criticized it and still criticize it for the price, some for the innovations introduced, and much more.

Not to mention the hardware criticisms (burn-in effect and more), but that's certainly another story. To curb, or simply silence all this, in a recent interview granted to Wallpaper *, J. Ive, ha ribadito che the new iPhone X will be able to do much more in a year. The device can evolve.

Can iPhone X do much more than it does now?

We assume that this iPhone is basically software-centric. Everything you do with the iPhone X is due to the software itself (gestures, augmented reality, etc ...). The user experience, rightly judged by many as "immersive" of this iPhone, is made both thanks to this new screen, but also thanks to a slightly modified version of iOS 11, compared to all the other iPhones. This perfect union creates the final product, which otherwise could not be.

Therefore, even radically changing the user experience of this smartphone is possible! It would even be possible to have the feeling of finding yourself with a totally new smartphone in your hands! All this after just one software update.

When Ive claims that in 12 months this smartphone will be able to do much more, he is not referring only to a new model that will certainly be launched during the course of next year, but also to the current model on the market. The developers will have a device whose screen is all you can count on, they will have in their hands a real "block of marble" on which to indulge themselves.

What will they sculpt? We will find out only at the next WWDC, with iOS 12. It can be said that it is really all in the hands of the developers!

These are the words of Ive:

What I think is noteworthy about the iPhone X is that its features are so software-related; and since software by its nature is fluid and subject to evolution, the final product itself is bound to change and evolve over time. In 12 months this object will be able to do things it cannot do now. I think in the future when we look back we will see it as a game changer in the products we are developing.

This year the innovation, which according to Ive "is something rare, which 50 years ago could not happen", consists not so much in an experience of immediate use such as the one with the home button but an experience that creates a perfect union between hardware and software even more completely.

Certainly letting the latter prevail.
