Remainder: Ashes today adds a new dungeon to its roster called Leto's Laboratory. Inside, players will learn about the first set of researchers who experimented with the red crystal. The lab was abandoned soon after, due to errors on the part of the researcher. Inside, players will find a new boss, Riphide. It will look eerily like the number of smaller, weaker enemies a player first encounters in the Earth Kingdom. Here is how you take it.
Boss Fight Torn Into The Rest: From The Ashes
Fight the growing forest
Riphide is a relatively straightforward boss fight. Looks like the minion you've been fighting against from the start of the game, so you won't be surprised at how it looks. Plus, you are going to understand how it fights, which gives you another obvious advantage. The mechanic behind this boss fight is that Riptide splits up and becomes multiple, slightly smaller enemies to fight. Riptide will go their separate ways several times during your encounter, so don't get locked in a corner. The more you back away without watching yourself, the more likely you are to find yourself in a dead end.
Much like smaller enemies, Riptide has ranged attack and melee. The trees will not be passive with you, and they are more than capable of rushing you directly to engage you. However, they telegraph their attack extremely loud, retreating to hit you. You will have ample time to dodge and flee.
You might run into one of the trees where it explodes, sending a wave of red energy all around. The waves will radiate from the tree, so when you see it plunging forward and through the tide of damage.
Another essential thing to remember is that when these trees choose to come together, they can heal each other, which improves the health of the boss. You'll want to shoot whoever sends the treatment, interrupting the process and preventing the cycle from getting worse. Do not let them disappear or you will end up in a recurring health center.
If you continue to dodge, watch the radiation blasts, and observe if Riptide heals himself on his own, you'll find yourself facing the boss. There is no trick or technique to fight the boss.
