It looks like Sumo Digital will be very busy moving towards the next generation of consoles. The developer previously announced that they are working on Sackboy: A Big Adventure, but they have now announced their second next-gen title: Hood: Outlaws & Legends. The game is a heavily folklore-based PvPvE multiplayer experience. Revealed at the State of Play PlayStation event in August 2020, the bloody Heist gameplay is a far cry from any previous Sumo titles.

On the PlayStation Blog, Game Director Andrew Willians writes that the game is a "dark and rough reimagining of the Robin Hood legend", where two teams clash to steal treasure from an oppressive British government, known as state name, in a dark age setting. What separates this game from the rest, however, is that the State will have an enemy AI targeting both teams. Thus, users will have to be wary of both the AI and enemy players.

In terms of gameplay, players will control different operators, some from actual folklore (like Robin Hood, himself), where each has their own unique abilities and weapons. Reminiscent of something like Assassin's Creed, players will wield their bows, swords, and wrists, while scaling and surveying large castles, all in third person.

The turn of the game comes from its elements of "grounded fantasy", as some of these characters will be able to use magic as a means of attack, as well as to obtain and escape with the precious treasure. So, one can imagine that the title with will be highly strategic, where teammates communicate and use their individual abilities to achieve the goal.

Willian also states that the title will "fully" utilize the haptic feedback of the DualSense, providing more "stimulating sensations between the player and their virtual bow." There is no official release date yet, but Hood: Outlaws & Legends is slated for the PS5 and PS4 in 2021.
