Gears 5 introduces operations for multiplayer content

The developers behind Gears 5, The Coalition, are eager to keep fans on their toes by putting together a wide range of post-launch content to keep players returning to their game. While everyone enjoys a good chunk of Horde mode, they're bringing something new to the table called Operations. Operations change continuously every three months, offering unique rewards, missions, targeted objectives in specific game modes, weapons, and character options. Here's everything we know about the new upcoming post-launch content in Gears 5.

How are operations changing multiplayer in Gears 5?

New cards

This mode will contain new maps for additional game modes, such as Horde, Versus, and new mosaic sets for the map generator. These options will be available for free, ensuring that in-game players don't cut themselves off from their friends' content. Additionally, the new Escape game mode will have weekly goals and map changes, making it a recurring feature.

Characters

By participating in the Gears 5 Operation Objectives, players will unlock new characters to play in the game. These characters go beyond the standard appearance and introduce various abilities used by the character in Horde and Escape. They're going to change the gameplay every time because these characters are going to vary what they bring to the table for a team in the respective multiplayer modes.

Standings

With every good multiplayer experience comes a leaderboard so players can compete against their friends and see how far they can go. Rankings will feature a competitive ranking system with Bronze, Silver and higher levels. By dividing them into different ranks, players can focus on the ones that match their playstyle, ensuring that hardcore fans continually screw up their heads. This method makes it easier and more interesting for casual gamers. Multiplayer 5 gears.

Supply drops

When players participate in and complete a multiplayer match of any kind, they will earn Reserve Points. Players will grab these points to use on Supply Lists, which will contain customization items that you can use. These customization options will include emblems, emotes, and more. We'll learn more about the rewards available in the future when the first Gears 5 Operation happens.

Tour of duty

Each operation will have a period of service and will track a player's progress over the three months of that operation. When players complete milestones during their Tour of Duty, they will have access to free content that they can use for their favorite characters. These rewards will consist of characters, skins and weapon skins. There will be daily and weekly objectives available to earn more points during a Tour of Duty.
