Risk of Rain 2 already has a diverse roster of playable survivors, but for the next addition to the cast, developer Hopoo Games is looking to the community for comment.
There are six more characters from the original Risk of Rain that has failed to become Risk of Rain 2 yet, and Hopoo has some new ideas for survivors as well. To decide which will make the next cut, the developer asks fans to vote for their favorite.
Voting for the upcoming Risk of Rain 2 will take place in the game's Discord server from March 31 through April 7. If you don't have a Discord account, you can sign up for free at Discordapp.com and then use it to join the Rainfall 2 server in your browser or in a desktop or mobile app.
Once you're there, navigate to the “Character Poll” section listed on the left side of the Risk of Rain 2 Discord, where you should see Hopoo's latest post announcing the vote. To vote, simply click on one of the seven reaction icons below the post, each corresponding to one of the potential new characters.

The options in the character poll are the Armored Enforcer, Cunning Bandit, Hard-hitting HAN-D, Brawling Miner, Long Range Sniper, Smart Leader, and an option for a Mystery Survivor. The Survivor Mystery option would add a whole new character to the game, and Hopoo Games gave a few options for the ideas the team pitched, including the Chemist, Spearman, Weaver, and Paladin.
Even if you are already familiar with all of the original classes, the patch notes announcing the poll are well worth a look. Hopoo Games goes into detail about the design challenges of integrating each of the Risk of Rain 2 survivors, which may also provide some insight into how they will change if they are chosen to appear in the game.

Hopoo Games also points out that they can't guarantee exactly what abilities or general ideas will make their way into the final design of which Survivor wins the poll, but does promise that the winner will be implemented in Risk of Rain 2 Big Update 1.0. The developer also says he's leaving the door open to even add poll losers to the game at a later date, so voting for one doesn't necessarily doom the others to never getting there.
The Risk of Rain 2 character poll will remain active on the Discord server for a week, and the winner will be announced the day after it closes on April 8.
