Genshin Impact Talent Guide: locations, days and characters of talent material

Genshin Impact talents are locked behind the character's Ascension and the "books".

Genshin Impact talents do not level up with talent points and do not increase over time. Travelers will need to do two different things to level up their talents: raise the character level and "elevate" it, then farm the talent level material. Simple, right? As a quick caveat: you won't really play talents until adventure rank 25, and you won't be able to farm higher level materials until rank 27. So if you're far from these ranks, check out our guide here. if you plan on power leveling up.

The reason you'll want to reach at least adventure rank 25 is because of how Character Ascension works. You can click on the hyperlink for a full breakdown of this topic, but to keep it simple here: talents can only be upgraded at certain Ascension levels. Passive Talents will automatically increase when the required Ascension level is reached, but you will need Talent Materials to increase your combat abilities.

The materials needed to level up Talents come in six flavors, and each Genshin Impact character will only need one of the six for their Talents. These six books are divided between the two areas of mastery currently in the game (and you must be at adventure rank 27 to unlock the first level of both), and the books on offer rotate . . Also, the rewards for each farm will cost you 20 original Resins upon completion, so you'll need to balance your farming priorities. So let's break them down by domain, type, days and characters.

Talent material locations, days and characters.

  • Abandoned Rift: Mondstadt
    • "Freedom" (Monday / Thursday)
      • Protagonist, Amber, Barbara, Sacharose.
    • "Resistance" (Tuesday / Friday)
      • Bennett, Diluc, Jean, Mona, Noelle, Razor.
    • "Ballad" (Wednesday / Saturday)
      • Fischl, Kaeya, Lisa, Venti.
    • All are available on Sundays.
  • Manoir Taishan: Liyue
    • "Prosperity" (Monday / Thursday)
      • Keqing, Ningguang, Qiqi.
    • "Stagecoach" (Tuesday / Friday)
      • Xiangling, Chongyun.
    • "Gold" (Wednesday / Saturday)
      • Beidou, Xingqui.
    • All are available on Sundays.

Expect this list to grow as new characters, regions and domain areas are added to Genshin Impact. In addition, higher-ranked talents will require materials from one of the two weekly bosses, and their rewards cost 60 original resin to exchange. The weekly bosses have solid rewards, but you'll want to focus on mastery drops early on.

Once you have the necessary materials and have reached the appropriate character upgrade level, you can go to the Talents tab in the character menu and level up the available combat talents. This same menu will also tell you what level of Ascension you need to level up each talent and what materials are needed once you are able to do so. When you click on the material, it will appear where it is in the game, so you can check back in the game. There is also a list of standard enemy materials, but these are not difficult to farm, and you can use alchemy to create higher level, versions of these if needed.
