GPS iPhone: how to manage location

Il GPS it is essential for some applications on our iPhone. Without it, in fact, some fundamental features may not be available. Other apps, on the other hand, do not need localization enabled to function properly. Using Location Services is a major drain on the battery. So it is good to disable them when they are not strictly necessary.

In this guide we will see how to manage location services.

IPhone GPS and location

As previously mentioned, it is good to manage the location of our iPhone individually. This guarantees a longer battery life for our device.

When we open a newly installed app that requires location, we will be asked if we want to enable GPS services. To enable them we select Allow and location services will be enabled. To prevent access, instead, click on Do not allow.

If, on the other hand, we want to manage these services for each app individually, we must go to the Settings. We select the option Privacy and then we select Location. Let's make sure the localization is active.

In this screen we are shown all our applications. At this point we can modify them one by one. To change it, just touch the desired app. At this point we are shown several options: Mai, While using the app e Everlasting.

We select the option we want:

  • Mai: prevents the use of localization;
  • While using the app: allows the use of GPS only while we use the app visible on the screen;
  • Everlasting: allows the use of GPS even when we are not using the app.

For each option, the app provides an explanation of how they will use those services. Some apps may only provide two out of three options.

Conclusions

The apps will only use our information after we have given our consent. Going to act on the apps one by one allows us to improve the life of our battery. It also allows us to have greater privacy and security on our information against malicious applications.
