Link's Awakening wants you to go out and explore the world to find out what's in it. One of the things that players are going to have to do is get involved in trade quests. These trade quests allow Link to trade items with various in-game NPCs. He will obtain an item, then trade it for another person for a specific person, and this cycle will continue. The main intention of this is for Link to be able to receive the essential items that he can use in his quest. This is how you go through the last part of the quest to get the Magnifying Glass / Lens.
Obtain the Magnifier / Lens in Link's Awakening
Yoshi doll for Ribbon
To embark on the trade quest, you must earn a Yoshi doll by playing the trending game of Mabe village. The doll is the first item of the trade quest. From there, you'll start by talking to Papahl's wife, who is also in Mabe Village. You can find her in the northern part of it. Give it to him and you will get a ribbon.
Dog food tape
Take the ribbon to the mini Bow-wow, which also resides near the village of Mabe. They are northwest of the village, inside Mrs. MeowMeow's house. Talk to them and you will receive a box of dog food.
Banana dog food
Your next stop is at Toronbo Shores, and you're looking for Sale. You will find them inside the Banana Hut. Go inside the cabin and talk to Sale to give them the can of dog food. They will provide you with bananas for your trouble.
Bananas for stick
These bananas are beneficial because they will help you gain access to Kanalet Castle. Go west to talk to Kiki, a monkey. They will call some of their friends to build a bridge for you in exchange for bananas. When they are finished, you will have access to Kanalet Castle. Make sure you pick up the stick the monkeys leave behind.
Honeycomb Sticks
You might have to wait a while to get more items, but eventually your next stop will be Ukuku Prairie. Head here and talk to Tarin. He's ready to trade you the sticks for a honeycomb, which he hits with a stick to get it out of a nearby tree. However, when he does a series of bees will come out and start attacking him. Defend yourself, then grab the honeycomb.
Honeycomb for pineapple
Now you are going to want to visit the Animal Village. In the south-eastern part of the area, you'll talk to Chief Bear and exchange the honeycomb for a pineapple.
Pineapple for Hibiscus
The next destination is going to take you some time to familiarize yourself with the game. You have to go up the Tal Tal mountain range and you will want to find Papahl, who is stuck up there and has not eaten anything. To get this part of the game you will need to move the sleeping walrus with Marin, head to the Yarna Desert and defeat the Lanmola to grab the Angling Key. Now you will have access to the Dungeon of the Angler Tunnel. You will find Papahl on top of the mountains. Link is going to receive a hibiscus for his problems.
Hibiscus for Letter
You want to go back to Animal Village and give the goat the hibiscus, Christine. She goes to provide Link with a letter which she asks to give to Mr. White.
Letter for broom
You won't find Mr. White near Mysterious Wood in the northwestern part of the map. You'll need to proceed northwest as much as possible, making sure to stay in the forest. When you get there, Mr. White will accept the letter and give you a broom in return.
Hook broom
The next step brings you back to civilization at Mabe Village. Looking to talk to Grandma Lrira, also known as Grandma Yahoo, which you can find west of the main area. Go home and she will give you a hook for your broom.
Fishing hook for collar
The person who needs the hook is to the right of Catfish Maw in Martha's Bay. Walk towards the dungeon, but do not enter it. Go northwest and follow the path. At the end of the path, you will find a fisherman who needs a hook. They promise to give Link the first thing they catch in the water, which is a necklace. Unfortunately, the necklace belongs to someone and Link must return it to its rightful owner.
Mermaid Scale Necklace
The rightful owner is also in Martha's Bay so you don't have to go far. Turn back on your way and jump into the water, northeast of the entrance to Catfish Maw. You will meet a mermaid, who is the rightful owner of the necklace. She's willing to trade one of her scales for Link for the necklace.
Scale for magnifying glass
You have reached the final destination. The last thing to do is go back to where you spoke to the fisherman and head left using your grappling hook. You are going to give the mermaid statue the scale and make it move to reveal a hidden staircase. Go downstairs and take the magnifying glass / lens at the bottom.
It might have taken you a long time, but now you have added the magnifier / lens to your collection.
