Oddworld: Soulstorm, the next reimagining of Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus, will launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. The platform-adventure title received another trailer during the September PS5 showcase, but, for the players who primarily play on PC or Xbox consoles, there are questions if it will launch on those platforms as well.
If you want to play Soulstorm but don't have a PS4 system and don't plan on buying a PS5 console, you'll want to know if Soulstorm is coming to PC, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X. The next entry in the franchise Oddworld is coming to one or the other platform?
Yes, Oddworld: Soulstorm will focus on these systems. However, there are different launch windows for each port.
PC gamers should see Soulstorm launch alongside PS5 and PS4. At the end of the “Molluck Returns” trailer, it is revealed that Oddworld: Soulstorm is “also available on PC”. While there is no definitive release date for the game, there is no suggestion that PC gamers will have to wait an additional week or two after its launch on PS5.
For Xbox fans, that's another story. The same trailer reveals that Soulstorm is an exclusive timed console for PS5 and PS4. Previous timed exclusives on PlayStation, such as Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Death Stranding, had different exclusivity periods before launching on other platforms. Death Stranding was on PS4 for eight months before it launched on PC. Final Fantasy 7 Remake, meanwhile, premiered on PS4 in March, but won't arrive on Xbox consoles until March 2021.
Soulstorm was not listed as a launch title on PS5, so it won't be released until December at the earliest. If so, Xbox owners will likely have to wait until December 2021 to transfer to Microsoft's line of consoles. If it doesn't arrive until 2021, the wait could be even longer for Xbox fans.
