Who is Varko Gray in Star Wars: Squadrons?

Star Wars: Squadrons will have a single player campaign and allow players to create a character that flies for the New Republic and the Galactic Empire. Each camp will have a unique associated team that flies with you. Varko Gray is the first teammate we learn about who will fly for the Imperials. We see him in action in CG's latest trailer called Hunted, where Gray is left behind on an Imperial retreat mission and leads air combat against an X-wing pilot. Beyond the trailer, do we know anything else about him?

Gray served as a police officer on Parkella before becoming an Imperial pilot. Despite the dangerous lifestyle of a TIE pilot, Gray managed to beat the odds of returning every mission to her husband, Emory. When he began his career with the Imperials, he believed that the Galactic Empire was the only way to wreak havoc on the unity of a galaxy ravaged by civil war. Now, after years of serving alongside other TIE fighter pilots and becoming the leader of the Titan Squadron, Gray may not always be okay with the Empire's methods. Yet he is an unwavering ally of his team colleagues and drivers.

Varko Gray is played by Noshir Dalal, who did voice work in Ghost of Tsushima, plays Gabriel Diaz in Gears Tactics, Charles Khan in Death Stranding, and Udom Bedford in The Outer Worlds.

We can expect to see even more of Gray in the single player campaign and see if his thoughts regarding the Imperials change. Hopefully we don't have another character who will eventually join the New Republic by the end of it, but we'll see. It looks like the story team is already trying to do that, given the limited details they've shared.
