Following the death of HBO's Apple TV Channel, Apple offered customers a refund on Thursday for any unused portion of their subscription and a discount for HBO Max.

HBO officially closed Apple TV channels for all users earlier today, urging existing subscribers to migrate to its standalone HBO Max app. Apple subsequently informed users of the situation and began issuing refunds.

Apple notes that the offer is available for a limited time and ends on September 7. 5, 2021.

Users who previously subscribed to HBO via the Apple TV channel did so using their Apple ID. Now, with the channel removed and the ability to sign in with a lost Apple ID, some users are left without sign in until further notice. Other users were able to regain access to their account by creating a new HBO Max account using the same email address used in their Apple ID.

The cable company retired from Apple TV channels in 2020 when it launched its own premium app, HBO Max, on various platforms. Subscribers have maintained access to the service through the Apple TV app to this day.
