Apple updates all the tools to be able to follow the conference from home.

Keynote and State of the Union

Together with keynote to be held at 10:00 (Pacific time), at 19:00. (Central European Time), Apple plans to hold its traditional 'State of the Union of platforms' at 14:00. (Pacific time), 23:00 in Central Europe, to give developers an in-depth look at the new features in iOS / iPadOS 14, macOS 10.16, watchOS 7, and tvOS 14.

The WWDC 2020 Keynote will be held on Monday, June 22 and will be visible in the Apple Developer app, as well as on the Apple Developer website, the usual Apple Events website, the Events tab on Apple TV and Youtube.

Interestingly, the invitation text does not include the word 'live', which suggests that the keynote will be pre-recorded (to avoid direct issues with Apple executives, developers and companies invited to talk about their news) and will go to aired on June 22.

Apple has announced that its 2020 Apple Design Awards event will be held on June 29.

The Apple Design Awards are a special event designed to recognize and highlight innovative apps on Apple platforms. Typically, the event takes place during WWDC week.

In an update on its website on WWDC 2020, Apple announced that the 2020 design awards will be announced on June 29 (Monday). That date is a week after WWDC started and a break with tradition. Despite the announcement, an hour was not included for the announcements.

"Join us in celebrating the developers who used their ingenuity, intelligence and knowledge to shape this year's Apple Design Award," Apple says of the event. Apple Design Award winners will receive a cube-shaped aluminum trophy, as well as a set of Apple products and accessories.

Apple also detailed how the face-to-face development labs will unfold this year. Specifically, the “by appointment” workshops will be conducted via a Webex audio call and will last between 10 and 55 minutes.

Developers will be able to share the screen with the Apple designer if they wish, although recording of the conference is prohibited.

The "Developer Workshops" will take place from 23 June to 26 June. Appointments are scheduled overnight and are open to Apple Developer Program members, Apple Developer Enterprise Program members, and Swift Student Challenge winners.

A petition can be submitted Monday 15:30 pm to 18:00 pm and Tuesday through Thursday 6:00 am to 18:00 pm PDT.

You just need to log in with your Apple ID, choose a workshop from the program, enter a question and submit it. If you have already completed a report using the Feedback Assistant, the Feedback Assistant ID must be included in the request.

Availability is obviously limited. Requests will be reviewed and a status email will be sent within hours. If you do not receive an email, you can resubmit your application for the day the workshop is held again or post it on the Apple Developer Forums.

Apple will also release videos of the engineers' sessions.

New developer forums

On June 18, Apple will unveil its new Apple Developer Forums that will allow anyone with an Apple ID to ask questions about application development. From day one of WWDC, the forums will be used to connect developers with more than 1.000 Apple engineers who will be able to answer questions.

The new forums have a tagging system that allows you to discover content easily. You can find content and tag posts using special tags for WWDC20:
WWDC20 Community. Meet and chat with other developers. Anyone can see them and all forum users can post. WWDC20 support. Get help with conference logistics, such as video streaming issues. Everyone can see it and everyone can post.
WWDC20. Discuss the general contents of the conferences with engineers and other developers. Everyone can see them. Program members and Challenge winners can post.
What's more. Each session and conference will have a unique tag that program members and Challenge winners can use to discuss content. Anyone can see these threads.
The list of labels will be published starting from June 22nd.

The Apple Developer app available for Mac

All information about WWDC 2020 [Updated]

WWDC 2020 is the first to be held digitally, without any physical conferences or meetings. For this reason, Apple has decided to make its Apple Developer app available for Mac as well.

The Mac version of the Apple Developer app is identical to the iOS one, including the Discover sections with the most relevant news, a video section with sessions created by Apple engineers and a section specifically dedicated to WWDC.

Content from previous WWDCs (since 2014) is also included in the app organized by dates so that it's easy for developers to find what they need.
