How to start The Legend of Beowulf Quest
You can only start The Legend of Beowulf quest after reaching England and unlocking the Ravensthorpe Settlement. You can receive letters in Eivor's room in Ravensthorpe's longhouse, and you will receive a letter from a person named Sunniva after reaching the colony. Read the letter to begin the quest.
Sunniva's note details rumors that a monster was mutilating cattle in the East Anglia area. Eivor sees this as an opportunity to bring glory to the Raven Clan and strengthen the clan's influence in the region, deciding to head to the area and investigate. The first part of this quest requires you to find and speak with a person named Wulfhilda in the East of England. Wulfhinda's position is shown on your map. After finding her and talking to her, the quest will continue.
The recommended power level in East Anglia is 55, so you may need to grind a bit before you are at the proper level to start The Legend of Beowulf. You will likely be between power level 20 and 30 when you first arrive in England. You will still be able to deal with East Anglia's enemies at this level, but they will be quite difficult. If you want to get stronger before you start this quest, work on story quests in the neighboring areas of Ledecestrescire and Grantebridgescire. There is no shortage of settlements to discover and world events, and these should provide you with plenty of skill points to boost your power level.
