Larian's lofty long-term goals are to bring the full suite of races from Dungeons & Dragons 5th to Baldur's Gate 3 before its full launch. This means that those of you who want to run a Gnome or a Half-Orc (or maybe something more exotic) will likely be able to do so once development leaves Early Access.
For now, here's what's available in Baldur's Gate 3 Early Access.

Humain: No matter what drives them, humans are the innovators, achievers and trailblazers of the world.
Elf: Elves are magical people of an otherworldly grace, living in the world but not entirely a part of it. Elves love nature and magic, art and artistry, music and poetry, and the good things of the world.

Half elf: Walking in two worlds but not really belonging to either of them, the half-elves combine what some say are the best qualities of their elven and human parents: human curiosity, inventiveness and ambition tempered by refined senses, love of the nature and artistic tastes of the elves.

Drow: Also known as Dark Elves, Drow are a sub-race of Elves. Their iconic dark skin has made them undeniable Underdark patriots.

Grandmother (North Wales): Dwarves are strong and enduring like the mountains they love, enduring the passage of centuries with stoic endurance and little change.

Halfling: The comforts of home are the goal of most halflings - a place to settle in peace and quiet, away from marauding monsters and clashing armies.

Tiefling: Tieflings are descended from human bloodlines, and in the broadest sense possible, they still appear to be human. However, their hellish legacy has left a clear imprint on their appearance.

githyanki: The Githyanki are a race of psionic humanoids once dominated by Spirit Flayers. They escaped their bondage and now reside in fortresses in the astral plane.
