How to play Spiritfarer in co-op

Spiritfarer is a brand new indie game from Thunder Lotus Games for Switch, PS4, PC and Xbox One that lets you manage your ferry for the deceased while taking them to the afterlife. It is a slow paced and relaxing game that supports cooperative play. If you are looking to play the game with a friend but are having some issues, read on to learn how to play with a friend and how cooperative play works in the game.

How to play Spiritfarer in co-op

While Spiritfarer doesn't explicitly tell you in-game that there is a co-op mode, you can play local multiplayer. As of this writing, there is no online multiplayer available.

To involve a friend in your game, prepare a second controller. If you're playing on a console, sign in to your accounts or connect your PC controllers when you're at the main menu. If you have two controllers and two profiles connected (console only), you can play co-op by starting a new game or picking up a previous save file, even if you started solo.

How the Spiritfarer cooperative game works

In Spiritfarer, Stella is the main character that you play throughout the game and will be automatically controlled by the first player in cooperative mode. Player 2 will play Daffofil, Stella's cat.

The first player will be able to do all of the things that Stella can usually do during the single player campaign, and while Daffodil is a cat, she can also do all of the same actions, aside from interacting with other characters. So while player two won't be able to talk to NPCs to start quests or conversations, they can help manage and maintain the ship.
