The ongoing pandemic has boosted the popularity of some niche games, and Among Us is one of them. The game is inspired by other social deduction games like Deceit and although it is quite minimalist visually, it has managed to capture the interest of a large number of players thanks to its unique mechanics.
Among Us is available on Android, Windows and iOS. At the moment, there is no word on a console version, however, for people looking to play the game on macOS, there is a workaround. Here's how to play the game on Mac.
How to install and play with us on Mac
Unfortunately, Among Us is not available for macOS. However, you can still play the game if you install Windows on your Mac device. Follow the steps below to dual boot your Mac device with Windows using Boot Camp Assistant.
- Download the Windows 10 ISO file from here and save it to the desired location.
- Insert a USB flash drive with at least 5 GB of free space. Make sure to disconnect any other external storage device.
- Go to the Utilities folder and launch Boot Camp Assistant. It is recommended to check Download the latest Windows support software for Apple et Installer Windows checkboxes. You will need to locate the ISO file that you downloaded in the first step and choose your USB drive in the next step.
- After that, you need to create a partition of your hard drive so that Windows can use it. Allocate as much space as you want for Windows, but make sure it's at least 20 GB.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and Windows will be installed on your Mac device.
- Download Steam to your Windows partition from here.
- Once you've installed Steam, you can download Among Us from the Store.
The process is a bit long and can be confusing at first. However, it is very simplified once you have downloaded the ISO since most of the steps are given on the screen itself. It's definitely worth installing Windows on your Mac device if you're using it for gaming, given that only a handful of games support Mac.
