Baldur's Gate 3 - How to Rest

How to have a short rest

To rest briefly in Baldur's Gate 3, click the closed eye icon on the right side of your minimap. Taking a short rest will spend 15 minutes in the game and recover some of the HP of your party members. It's a great way to heal your characters without wasting potions or spells.

Short breaks can be used at any time outside of the bout. Some spells will be recharged, but be sure to check what type of rest is needed to recharge your spells and abilities as some require long rests. You can only take one short rest before you need to take a long rest to end the day. After using a brief rest, the icon will be grayed out until it is available again.

How to rest for a long time

To take a long rest at Baldur's Gate 3, you need to camp. To do this, click on the campfire icon to the right of your minimap. You can take a long rest at any time outside of combat, and you will be sent to your camp once you press the button. Once at camp, make your way to an available bed and fall asleep to move on to the next day and restore your abilities, spells, and health. The time will advance eight hours.

While you are at camp, be sure to check in with your group members and see how they are feeling. Some of the best moments of Baldur's Gate 3 happen at camp and can be missed if you don't talk to your companions. It can also lead to a romantic relationship later on, so don't overlook anyone you have your eye on.

Baldur's Gate 3 is now available on PC and Google Stadia. The game is currently in Early Access with a full release planned after a year of Early Access development.
