Although Magikarp is a joke for many Pokémon, its evolved form is not. Gyarados is a powerful Pokémon, and it takes 400 Magikarp Candy to evolve the Floating Fish in Pokémon Go's amazing evolution. Gyarados can learn a variety of moves, but there are a few that really make it shine.
Gyarados is a Water and Flying type pokémon. It has a maximum CP of 3, offense of 391, defense of 237, and stamina of 186. While it may not have the best defense, you can bet it makes up for it with its formidable attack. Fortunately, it's only weak to Rock and Electric types, but it's especially vulnerable when you're fighting anything with Electric-type moves, so make sure you have a counter against these Pokémon.

Quick attacks:
- Bite (sinister type) (6 damage and 4 energy).
- Dragon Breath (dragon type) (6 damage and 4 energy)
- Dragon's Tail (dragon type) (15 damage and 9 energy)
- Waterfall (water type) (19 damage and 8 energy)
Charge Moves:
- Aqua Tail (water type) (50 damage and 33 energy)
- Crunch (sinister type) (70 damage and 33 energy)
- Dragon Pulse (dragon type) (90 damage and 50 energy)
- Hydraulic pump (water type) (156 damage and 100 energy)
- Indignation (Dragon type) (110 damage and 50 energy)
- Twister (Dragon type) (45 damage and 33 energy)
You have several options when it comes to Gyarados' move set. Because of its fast moves, you'll want to finish it off with the bite. It's decent over other Pokémon, but there are better options. Trick is the strongest fast move for Gyarados, followed by its dragon tail heritage. Dragontail is harder to get unless you have an elite fast MT, but trick is a stronger move and not the end of the world for any trainer.

For Gyarados charge transfer, Hydro Pump is the highest among the other options. There are several Dragon-type options to choose from, and if you want your Gyarados to have a fast Water-type attack and then a Dragon-type charge attack, indignation is a good option, but the highest DPS available is to have a combination of cascade and hydraulic pump. For slightly less DPS, you can use Stunt and Anger. Aqua Cola is a Community Day exclusive move available to everyone on August 8, and then you'll need an Elite ChargeTM to teach your Gyarados. It's a decent secondary charge move, but not superior to other Water-type options.
