The brand new service Youtube Shorts it is very similar to Tik Tok, with the difference that it works on the Youtube platform. In fact, video shorts are short videos that last a maximum of 60 seconds, easy to create and share with all Youtube users. It is currently in beta in India and the United States but also in Italy it is possible to make short videos (shorts) with this trick: just upload a vertical video of up to 60 seconds and include #Shorts in the title or description to have the system recommend your short videos on YouTube.

Where to upload Video Shorts
You can post shorts on your primary channel or start a secondary channel. In the former case, the Youtube Shorts section on the channel's homepage will help viewers distinguish these videos from the standard ones.
It is also possible to use the mobile application or the normal Youtube site on the desktop.
Come Creare Video Shorts
The easiest way to create Shorts is via application on the phone, and therefore the steps listed below are valid for mobile devices (Android and iOS)
- As a first step, tap the button Crea and then Create Short Video
- If you want to add music, tap on Add music for a selection of free songs to choose from.
- To record a video, press and hold the red record button. The same key is used both to start recording and to stop.
- Tap the back arrow to cancel the recording or the forward arrow to resume it.
Video Shorts Options
When you record a video shorts, among the options on the right you will find "Speed"To change the recording speed,"Timer” to choose the length of the countdown (3-10-20 seconds) for when to stop recording.
There is also the option Align which allows you to align the new video clip with the previous one.
It's possible also add filters to your video shorts, and once done you will be able to preview it.
Below you will find options to add Music, adapt the part of the song to be played and the volume. If you add text you can use Sequence to add more text segments and control when the text should appear and disappear. (useful for adding subtitles).
When you're done making changes, tap Next to add details, such as title and visibility.
Advice
As already mentioned it is necessary to add "#shorts" to the title to increase visibility.
You can also create Video Shorts using other people's original audio, just grab a suitable video, tap the Music icon, then tap the “Use this Audio” icon to create your own Video Shorts with that audio.
Of course, you can upload any video of up to 60 seconds with the classic procedure.
To be successful with video shorts here are some tips:
- try to make the first few seconds of the video captivating to attract attention
- remember that video shorts go on a loop and think about how to encourage repeatability
- think about the goal of the video, whether it is rewarding, educational or fun
