Nokia 7 Plus Review: The Nokia smartphone we've been waiting for

Nokia 7plus hits the mark. The mid-range smartphone from HMD Global in fact, it is presented on the market with a pleasant design, convincing performances and a definitely aggressive price. In short, Nokia 7 Plus has really convinced me. I'll explain why in this review.

Nokia 7 plus: the technical characteristics

Before telling you what I liked about this device, let's see its technical characteristics.

The charm of copper

The design of Nokia 7 Plus is what the Finnish company has accustomed us to in the last period, enriched however by a profile and copper-colored finishes which allow the device to stand out in any situation. Absolutely appreciable then the ceramic painting which characterizes the back cover, even if the latter was less oleophobic than expected. Eventually I had to give up and use the supplied case to avoid cleaning the smartphone periodically.

The back of Nokia 7 Plus then houses the dual camera and the fingerprint reader, while on the sides we find the on and off button, the volume rocker, the speaker, the USB Type-C connector and - fortunately - the jack 3,5mm for headphones.

The dimensions are undoubtedly generous and the weight is not particularly low (we are talking about 184 grams), but the now famous 18: 9 have allowed Nokia to save some space and make the smartphone easily manageable even with one hand.

Then the display is very large. We have in fact well available 6 inches with Full HD + resolution and very good viewing angles. The brightness is also not bad, but it did not completely convince me during the sunny days of the last few days.

Finally, I would like to point out the presence of in-ear headphones inside the package, earphones that I found particularly comfortable to use during our test.

An excellent mid-range

On the field Nokia 7 Plus behaves really well. The Snapdragon 660, together with the 4GB of RAM and the Adreno 512 GPU, offer excellent performance in any situation. However, there are some microscopic and inexplicably slowdowns that never compromise the usability of the device.

The software is also excellent because we are talking about a device Android One, which guarantees a practically stock experience. The customization here is reduced to a minimum as are the apps pre-installed on the device, which really allows you to make the most of the 64GB at your disposal which I remind you to be expandable via microSD anyway.

Good then the telephone sector and the performance of the speaker, while autonomy is certainly exceptional. Nokia 7 Plus allowed me to reach the end of the day with a good 20% even after numerous mistreatments. In short, the 3800 mAh battery undoubtedly does its job.

Amazing photographs

Nokia 7 Plus convinces from every point of view, including the photographic sector. Of course, we cannot compare it to a monster like Huawei P20 Pro but certainly the photos taken from the mid-range of HMD Global are surprising considering the price range.

We have one on board double main camera composed of a 12 megapixel sensor with F / 1.75 aperture and a 13 megapixel sensor with zoom 2X, both with ZEISS optics. The result? Nokia 7 Plus allows you to shoot quickly and get really good photos in any light condition. The zoom then turned out to be useful and absolutely well integrated.

The presence of the Pro mode, activated by dragging the shutter button upwards and deactivated with the reverse movement. Then there is the now beloved effect Bokeh and the function that allows you to create the famous ones boothie, shooting with the rear and front cameras at the same time.

Finally, the videos that exploit are not bad 3 microphones to create spatial audio and reach i 4K. But be careful: to take advantage of digital stabilization you will have to stop at Full HD.

The best Nokia so far

Nokia 7 Plus is the best smartphone presented by the Finnish house in the last period. A device that amazes for the large display, the photographic sector and the autonomy and which, at least in my eyes, earns valuable points thanks to Android One.

Finally, I remind you that Nokia 7 Plus is already on sale at the cost of 399 Euros and in two different colors: black/copper e white/copper.
