The Clear the Mold side quest in Control AWE is one of the optional tasks given to you by Resident Caretaker Ahti. Like the Darkness and Plant missions, you don't have to beat them to complete the game, but you'll run out of rewards if you decide not to complete them.
There is an area of mold in three sections of the investigation area. However, they can be hard to find if you don't think outside the box, so you'll need our help if you can't locate them on your own.
In order to complete this side mission successfully, you must destroy the eight mold pods in each mold infested area. All eight modules are also located in the same room, so you won't have to scour a large area to find them all.
Service tunnel
You can access the service tunnel from abandoned offices. Follow the sign for this area and, once you've passed through its double doors, levitate onto the platform above. It has yellow fabric draped over it, so you know it's the right area.
Look to your left and you'll see two barriers in front of a door with blue icing on the floor. Head inside to find the first mold area. Use Launch or your service weapon to destroy the pods.
AWE charging lot
From the checkpoint in this area, go through the double doors and enter the cargo bag. Look for a giant pipe that escapes from the massive bilge in the center of the room. Enter the pipe and follow it until you see a room on your left hidden behind a sign. Use Launch to remove the panel. Go inside, turn right and follow the path to the next mold infestation.
A / C systems
From the turntable checkpoint, make your way to the turntable room and levitate to a desk above you. Head down the utility corridor until you walk down an elevator shaft. Kill the two Mold enemies in the next room. Before you rush through the debris in front of you, head into the room to your right to find the last mold infested area.
