Death Stranding: How To Get Upgrades To Protect Your Cargo | Backpack Guide

Here I want to talk about two features: backpack customization and a hidden backpack upgrade that you can unlock with an optional Prepper. The central region is filled with elders who are completely jumpable, but if you take the time to visit their camps and connect them to the Chiral Network, you will get some extremely useful rewards.

Death Stranding: How To Get Upgrades To Protect Your Cargo | Backpack Guide

In this guide, our primary focus is on getting a hard-to-find (and totally optional) upgrade for your backpack that covers it while protecting the contents. However, there are other upgrades that you can get that automatically acquire, but you may not know how they work.

As you go forward you will unlock theBackpack customization'functionality. In all private rooms, look at your backpack (under the hanging suit) and take a closer look. You can now craft attachments for your backpack - you'll start with a pile and grenade cases. Grenade Pockets like Tool Pouch and Book Hook allow you to safely store grenades / blood bags. Items in pouches are protected from the elements, enemies cannot steal them, and you will keep them if you lose consciousness.

Make sure to place as many items as possible in pouches! You will get a lot more as you unlock more settlements.

How to get the backpack upgrade covered:

One of the best upgrades is unlocked by convincing an optional Prepper to join the UCA. Just south of the fulfillment center, south of the town of Lake Knot, in the central region, you'll find the optional Prepper manifold.

The covered backpack upgrade protects all the gear in your backpack - so it allows attacks not to lose it, MULEs attack it with Sticky Guns, and protect it from the rain. This only counts for the square of space around the backpack itself.

To reach it, bring a climbing anchor and locate the hideout in the crevasse at the edge of MULE territory. If you don't have any lost cargo to return to him, you'll find plenty of them at the local MULE camp. A standard order is also available at the delivery terminal. Take the quest "Deliver the Old Game Console" to get in touch with the collector.

The game consoles are located in two places: in the mailbox located in the center of the MULE camp located nearby or in a disguised mailbox located outside the camp. You only need one to complete this, but I recommend getting all three for maximum benefit. One command will not be enough to get the upgrade object.

After joining the Bridges Network, you will unlock additional quests in the Standard Orders menu. Select “Collection: Large Bundle of Video Games” or “Salvage: Tactical Action Games Stolen by MULEs” to increase the Collecttor star rating.

You won't be able to get this prepper to join you until the game starts. So don't try to try until Episode 3. Even if you've reached Episode 6, you'll have to wait longer. gives you the materials you need.
