Destiny 2 - How to get The Tale of Dead Man

Destiny 2 - How to get The Tale of Dead Man

Start quest

First of all, you need to enter the Night strike of the arms dealer in order to locate a distress signal. There is literally no indication that you should do this, hence why this is treated as a hidden task. After entering the strike, continue to progress as you normally would. At some point, you'll be prompted to head left to chase the target of the strike. DO NOT do this. Instead, go right and wait for the automatic door to open. Doing so is the start of this whole questline. Just keep killing anyone on sight, until you find the distress signal we talked about. You have to bring this to Zavala, so take it and get ready for the next step.

Talk with Zavala

As the above suggests, find Zavala and talk to him. After some description, it will give you the "The voice from the other side" Exotic quest.

Cross the Glykon ship

Open your card and travel to Tangled shore. You will be able to see a giant exotic quest icon, so just click on it to do so. You must embark Glykon and this is where the fun part begins (not really). There are a number of puzzles to solve, including some levers to pull and barriers to cross, so pour in some hot coffee and start brainstorming. First of all, however, you must head left and find some outdoor platforms. Follow their very specific placement, in order to enter the ship from the outside. You'll find yourself in front of walls through the vents, so smash them and continue to sink further into the spooky ship.

Then you will have to face some Stasis barriers. There are shiny spore pods around, which you need to stay close to. You have to shoot them to get a certain buff, which in turn will allow you to break through those stasis barriers we've talked about. Be aware that you only have 15 seconds to do this, so you need to be quick.

After passing the barrier you will find yourself in a maze-like area which might be difficult to describe here. Just try to follow any hallway, crawl through as many vents as you need, shoot ducts to light other things, etc. If you just pay attention to your surroundings, it won't take too long. A little advice would be to increase your volume in order to hear beeps. These indicate that a switch is available for you somewhere nearby.

Doing all of the above, as troublesome as it is, will get you closer to the new exotic weapon. Passing through an electrical barrier what it looks like, it's finally time to fight. Screebs will come at you, so brace yourself and shoot anything that moves on sight. Just make sure you don't waste any more time, as you will also have to pull on some conduits, to stop the giant compactor trying to crush you and your party. I didn't mention that, did I? From above, something closes for the sole purpose of crushing you. Look for Trois lines on the ground, pull on them and the compactor will stop. Once everything is clear, look for a vent and go deeper into Glykon.

Another phase of battle, this time with Scourge being the enemy. Destroy each of them and get ready for the next step. Which, at this point, would not be clear to anyone on your shooting team, as there is no clear indication of what to do next. Luckily, we've got the answers for you. It's time to get out again, because there are more platforms to cross. Do this and you'll reach a new area, the Lab.

In this boring place, you will have to reuse all the assets you previously learned in this instance. Spore pods, stasis barriers and all the good stuff. You have to clean several rooms and after completing them you will find yourself in the very first room of the lab. This time, a previously locked passage will be open, so you can walk through it and head to the final stage of this "not so fun" quest.

Boss time

The Raid Banner message will appear and you already know what it means. It's time to kill a boss. A massive Scourge creature, who for some reason enjoys being in a furnace. There is an upper level in the room you are currently in, which has all the tools to defeat him. These tools being panels that turn off this oven. There are three panels in total, with the third being a bit difficult to activate as it is within the oven shelf. You just need to be quick to avoid fatal damage.

The Boss has two “phases”, which are similar, but you only need to repeat the process of shutting down the oven. By finally killing this abomination, you will be able to claim the beloved prize, Tale of the dead from Glykon Bridge. Additionally, the exotic weapon has random rolls implemented, so you can repeat this quest if you want to try your luck with better affixes. Enjoy!
