The history of is both essential and completely unnecessary. We know why Doomguy kills demons - it's because they're demons! But, if we hadn't had the flashbacks in this mission, we wouldn't have been able to experience the beauty of Doomguy speaking. Yes, Doomguy finally speaks in these missions. It was worth the wait.

How collectibles work in DOOM Eternal:

There are many types of collectibles in: Auto Cards, Runes, Praetorian Points, Weapon Mods, Albums, Cheat Codes, Toys, Sentinel Crystals, and Sentinel Batteries. Every level has an Automap, but not all levels will have Albums, Toys, Cheat Codes, or Slayer Keys.

Basically there are a ton of different collectibles, and below I'll list where to find them all - in the Fallen from start of level to end. Levels in are much more linear, so as long as you follow along, it's easy to get all of the collectibles.

M8: Sentinel Prime - Collector Slots:

Manuscript: On the first lane after starting the level. You can not miss it.

Manuscript: After your first mysterious vision, you will find this codex page directly.

Manuscript: Yet another page that you will go through following the normal path through the level.

Manuscript: Talk to the Maykr, and you'll find this page in the next room.

Manuscript: Go up to the catwalk above the previous codex.

Automap: When entering a large staircase, the automap is on the right.

Manuscript: At the rear right of the staircase room.

Point had: Go up the stairs, go right and follow the passage back - there is a ledge you can jump over to reach the opposite side.

Manuscript: Before setting up the lifting platform, enter this page.

Manuscript: After taking the elevator, turn to locate this page before moving towards the Colosseum.
