Final Fantasy VII Remake - How To Fail Enemies

How to Fail Enemies

As with most action RPGs, your first instinct is to simply lay down on top of the enemy you're facing with your respective sword or weapon. It's a good approach to have most of the time in Final Fantasy VII Remake, but some enemies can have a lot of health or just very high defense. To make them more vulnerable, you want to stagger them.

While you have an enemy that is locked or even just targeted, you will notice some information showing up on the screen, including their name and health bar. Once you start hitting the enemy, you will notice another gauge just below the health bar which will start to fill an orange color.

This is the offset bar, but there is no set method to stagger each enemy. Most enemies in the game will see the bar increase when attacked normally, although spells and abilities are usually the way to go here.

What you'll definitely want to do is take advantage of your assessment material that you get from Chadley. Using the Materia tool will analyze the enemy and give you a breakdown of their weaknesses, immunities, etc. When talking about Stagger, the Evaluate Materia will also give you information on how best to stagger most enemies.

There are certainly some where it won't tell you what the best type of attack or strategy is to raise the Stagger bar, but a good majority of them will. Many bosses will tell you that as well, so you know how to sue them. You'll notice this works especially when you see "Pressed" below the health bar as well, so really start adding to that Stagger gauge.
