Final Fantasy XV : Fishing Guide - Fishing in Final Fantasy XV is one of the funniest activities of the game. Just like in the mythical Zelda Ocarina of Time, we can spend time catching bigger and bigger fish and discovering new fishing areas. But how exactly do you fish in Final Fantasy XV ?
It is soon said: fishing is quite simple, first of all you will need the following elements:
- fishing line
- bait
- fishing rod
- the whirlwind
HOW FISHING WORKS
The fishing rod and reel will be provided at the start of the game. The fishing line and the bait can be found scattered around the world, but much more easily you can buy them in a shop. Once you have bought the fishing line and bait, you can search the map for places to fish. In fact, it is not enough that there is water to be able to fish there as you want, but they must be specifically suitable points marked on the map.
Then go to the fishing spot, and press the action button (the X on Playstation 4 and the A on Xbox One. In the minimap you'll see where the fish are moving: the fish are displayed as blue and yellow dots. The yellow ones are COMMESTIBLE! Now move the cursor over the minimap and the mini map screen and the cursor will become bright as you approach an area full of fish. As you are positioned, press the action button again.
While you are in position and waiting, you will see a red line appear at the top if a fish has been called from your bait. To bite the fish now you must start moving the bait by moving the reel back and forth. Be careful not to move the bait too fast or you will leave the fish attraction area before the fish has taken the bait. In a few seconds the fish should take the bait!
When the fish takes the bait, the mini game begins to pull him up:
- First, move the left analog to the direction shown on the screen.
- Press R2/Rt until you pull it up.
- to prevent the line from breaking you must occasionally move the left analog in the direction shown by the hints
- If you see the wire tension too high stop pressing R2/Rt to wind the reel until it lowers.
The line has a margin of duration that you can see at the bottom right of the screen. When it reaches 0, it will break and the fish will be hopelessly lost: so try to pull it up before it reaches zero!
BONUS FOR THE TALENT LEVEL OBTAINED
As you level up, Noctis will get new bonuses that will help him become a skilled fisherman. Let's see in detail which bonuses you are dealing with and at what level they can be unlocked:
LEVEL 1 - Base
LEVEL 2 - The resistance of the line increases by 25%.
LEVEL 3 - EXCHIVELS apply a 10% discount.
LEVEL 4 - The probability of a fish taking the bait increases by 25%.
LEVEL 5 - It is possible to catch larger fish up to 80 cm.
LEVEL 6 - Exchangers apply a 30% discount.
LEVEL 7 - The resistance of the line increases by 50%.
LEVEL 8 - The probability of a fish taking the bait increases by 50%.
LEVEL 9 - Excavators apply a 50% discount.
LEVEL 10 - It is possible to catch larger fish up to 150 cm.
