You recently bought your first one iPhone and you're starting to get comfortable with all of its features. Unfortunately, however, there are still many things that you do not know how to do with your "iPhone by" and you would like to fill these gaps as soon as possible. One of these involves viewing photos that, for no apparent reason, rotate as you browse to show them to your friends. Actually solving this problem is very simple: just activate the screen rotation lock and you're done.
If you give me a few minutes of your free time, I can explain to you in greater detail how not to turn photos on iPhone: I guarantee you that it is not complicated at all, so you have no excuse not to immediately get to work and solve this problem. Should you have second thoughts and want to make sure that the photos "follow" the orientation of your device, then, in the last part of the tutorial I will give you useful information to retrace your steps.

Don't spin photos on iPhone
As I mentioned at the opening of the post, for do not spin photos on iPhone just disable automatic screen rotation in the Control Center of iOS, or by calling the appropriate function from the tool AssistiveTouch of the Apple operating system: everything is explained below.
Control Center
If you want to act from Control Center of iOS, you have to call up the latter and then press the button that is used to activate / deactivate the automatic rotation on the "iPhone by".
If what you own is a iPhone 8 / 8 Plus or an older model of iPhone, to call up the Control Center you simply need to do one swipe dal basso verso l'alto (you can do it from any screen you are on). If, on the other hand, you have an iPhone with a "notch" (eg. iPhone X, iPhone Xs / Xs Max o iPhone Xr), to invoke the iOS Control Center, you need to do one swipe from the top right corner of the screen to the bottom.
Now, locate the button Vertical rotation lock present in the Control Center (to be clear, the one depicting the icon of a padlock). If its lock is open, it means that the rotation lock is not active: press the button with the open lock and, to confirm that the operation was successful, you should see the wording Vertical rotation lock: Yes at the top of the screen (and the lock should close).
If, on the other hand, the padlock depicted on the rotation lock on / off button is already closed, it means that automatic rotation is not activated and, consequently, the orientation of the photos should not change when you tilt the device.
After activating the rotation lock, you will finally be able to browse the shots in the app Gallery of iOS (or other apps), without these being automatically turned in case of any involuntary tilt of the device. Is not it fantastic?
AssistiveTouch
An alternative method to prevent photos from being turned when the iPhone is tilted is to activate the rotation lock via the function AssistiveTouch, which allows you to take advantage of the phone's touch-screen for some functions that normally require physical keys or the execution of particular gestures.
To activate the AssistiveTouch, start the app Settings pressing the gray icon with the gears present on the Home screen and then went to the menu General> Accessibility> AssistiveTouch. In the screen that opens, move to ON the switch located at the top right, in correspondence with the wording AssistiveTouch.
At this point, you should see a transparent gray square: press on it, tap on the item Control Center located at the bottom right of the menu that opened and press the button Vertical rotation lock (if the lock is closed, there is no need to do this). This way, you can activate rotation lock and prevent photos from turning by themselves as you browse them.
If you want to disable the AssistiveTouch function, go back to the menu Settings> General> Accessibility> AssistiveTouch and move up OFF the switch located in correspondence with the item AssistiveTouch. More info here.
Spin photos on iPhone
You have thought about it and now you would like to perform the procedure exactly opposite to that described in the previous chapters, so from spinning photos on iPhone? And what's the problem: just follow the instructions below and you're done.
Turn on automatic rotation
To run photos on iPhone, all you have to do is act from Control Center of iOS by pressing the button that is used to disable the automatic rotation lock on your "iPhone by" and then rotate the device horizontally or vertically.
Su iPhone 8 / 8 Plus (or on an older model), to invoke the Control Center, you need to do one swipe dal basso verso l'alto. If, on the other hand, you have iPhone X, iPhone Xs / Xs Max o iPhone Xr, to call up the Control Center, you need to do one swipe from top to bottom from the top right corner of the screen.
After invoking the Control Center, locate the button Vertical rotation lock (the one depicting the icon of a padlock) and press on it (if the lock is open, there is no need to do so). To confirm that the operation was successful, you will see the wording Vertical rotation lock: No at the top of the screen.
After disabling the rotation lock, you will finally be able to browse the shots in the app Gallery of iOS (or other apps) and rotate the photos horizontally and / or vertically simply by tilting the "iPhone by".
Change the orientation of photos
Would you change the orientation of photos on iPhone from the app Gallery, as you have noticed that one or more shots have a wrong orientation? In this case, know that you can do it even without necessarily having to "bother" apps to retouch third-party photos.
To proceed, launch the app Gallery included "standard" in iOS, locate the shot you want to change the orientation and tap its preview, in order to view it in full screen. Then presses on the voice Modification located in the upper right corner of the screen, tap the button Cut out placed at the bottom left and presses the icon of square with arrow that appears at the bottom left to rotate the photo (press until the photo has the right orientation).
