The Mushroom is the third challenge that awaits you in Plague Inc, and it works a little differently from the previous stages. The main difference is that fungal spores find it difficult to travel long distances. Rather than relying on birds and planes to spread your disease like in previous modes, you will have to develop the abilities of fungal spores to infect other countries.
Fungal spores make this level a bit easier than bacteria, as you can forcibly infect countries - looking at you, Madagascar - that are normally hard to reach.
Start of the game - Evolve Transmission Methods
Start in India. It's a poor country with a hot climate and a ton of people, so your disease can grow exponentially without having to change countries.
Evolve these transmission methods to gain a foothold:
- Water 1
- Livestock 1
- Water 2
- Air 1
- Livestock 2
- Air 2
If symptoms mutate automatically, eliminate them immediately. You cannot let your illness show up yet.
Midgame - Evolve Abilities
At this point, your disease should have spread to at least five or six countries. As you earn more DNA Points, your next set of abilities should be:
- Extreme bioaerosol
- Drug resistance 1
- Cold resistance 1
- Cold resistance 2
At this point, your illness should still be symptom-free. Keep an eye on them and delegate them as needed. Keep collecting DNA dots until you've infected almost the entire world. You should be pretty close to 100 by the time you move on to the next step. Once you have less than 8 countries to infect, evolve Spore Burst to reach them. If there are other countries to infect, evolve Spore Burst again.
End of the game - Symptom progression
Once there are no longer any healthy people in the world, you are ready to move the symptoms forward and make your disease fatal. This path is very efficient:
- Anemia
- Haemophilia
- Internal bleeding
- Hemorrhagic shock
- Necrosis
- Tumors
- Systemic infection
Now sit back and wait. If new symptoms appear, let them do their job. You can also evolve Coma and Total Organ Failure, once you have the DNA points. Pop any cure bubbles that appear. Its unlikely researchers will be able to get past the disease, but if they seem to evolve quickly, evolve the genetic hardening just to be sure.
