- Click onstart icon at the bottom left, type cmd, click with the right mouse button on the item Command Prompt that appears and choose Run like administrator give the menu visualizzato.
- After pressing on Yes, type the command bcdedit and you Submit. This will allow you to view your computer's startup configuration data.
- Once this is done, locate the section Windows boot loader and pay attention to the voice winload.exe o bootmgfw.efi. If the first is shown, it means that the BIOS Legacy while if there is the second it means that theUEFI.
How to check if Windows is in UEFI or Legacy BIOS via System information
System information is a tool integrated into Windows that allows you to discover multiple characteristics of your machine such as the precise version of the operating system installed, the exact model of the PC, the processor under the body and much more.
You can take advantage of System information also to find out if your computer mounts UEFI o BIOS Legacy. Let's see how to do it together:
- Click onstart icon, type System information in the search field and click on the first result.
- Once this is done, within the screen System resources (selectable through the left sidebar), locate the item modality BIOS (under the column Element) and see if it says UEFI o BIOS Legacy at the column Value. If you cannot find the data in question, type mode BIOS in the text field next to Find and click on the button Find.
How to check if Windows is in UEFI or Legacy BIOS via Computer Management
Another solution offered by the Microsoft operating system is to take advantage of the tool Management computer. Let's see together the steps to follow:
- Right click onstart icon located at the bottom left and select Management computer give the menu visualizzato.
- At this point, press on arrow pointing to the right present before the entry Archiving (in the left sidebar) and then press on Management disco.
