Escape from Tarkov Patch 12.7 has gone live and has added many new features and updates. In addition to the many updates and bug fixes, Battlestate Games has also added a new boss for Shoreline and a new supply in the labs. Boss Scav Sanitar and his minions roam the map, making it harder for players to loot the station. Fortunately, hiring this boss is worth the risk just to gain access to his stash on Labs. Here is our guide on how to kill Sanitar and his buddies.
Equipment
First, we'll dive into Sanitar's gear to find out what to expect. Like all Tarkov bosses, Sanitar tends to have better weapons than what you would find on a standard Scav or Scav Raider. He can carry an OP-SKS, VSS or a Kedr-B as his primary weapon. He also tends to carry an APS handgun. Sanitar also offers various medical supplies and stims, including a Stim MULE, Morphine Injector, Grizzly First Aid Kit, and CMS Kit. This boss is based on a paramedic and he will heal himself and his followers if they take enough damage.
Sanitar has two well-armed guards as supporters. Like all follower bosses, their gear will be different with each encounter, but they almost always have Class 5 armor and helmets with face shields. These minions tend to carry AK series rifles, a Saiga 12 gauge, or a Hunter rifle. They also carry a selection of grenades and love to use them, so don't get caught in an enclosed space. Like their boss, servants carry a variety of medical items and will stop to use them.
Some unique items to note: Sanitar carries a blue key card and a new key that will allow you to access his hiding place in the laboratories. It is also possible for its followers to breed with the new plague mask Pestily.
Camping pitch
The boss and his minions mostly stay at the station and will roam near the (once) secure entrances. They can also spawn in the port and near villas. If you appear at the western end of the map near the village or tunnel, the best way to find Sanitar is to research the villas before heading into the resort. If he's in the villas, you're more likely to catch him in the open where you can use long-range weapons to deal with him. He has a tendency to spawn in the courtyard of the locked villa with the ambulance and will use the bushes as a cover-up.
If he is not in the villas, you can proceed to checking out the resort. Start at the entrances to the station and enter from the perimeter. Sanitar tends to walk down the hallways on the ground floor. Watch your corners and be very careful when entering or you will be ambushed. It doesn't appear often enough at the port to search for it unless you spawn nearby or have already cleared the rest of the map.
Strategy
The most difficult aspect of this fight is Sanitar and his minions healing themselves. While this boss has higher health than the Scav Raiders, he's not as tough as Killa and Glukhar. To compensate for this, Sanitar and his followers will interrupt the fight and heal themselves when they have received enough damage. Hit hard and fast and it is possible to take it down with the opening attack. If you don't kill him quickly, the fight can become one of the longest in the game.
The best way to deal with the boss is to use headshots and grenades. Choose a weapon you trust and can use to quickly perform successive headshots. If you choose a comfortable weapon and equip plenty of frag grenades, this battle will be a breeze.
When you tap the boss for the first time, he'll try to rush you. Let it push you outside where it can be a bit more manageable. Once Sanitar and his followers are on the outside, they will default to the common boss tactic where they work as a team to try and flank you. Fortunately, there isn't as much of a blanket as they can use when they need to break up and heal. Put some distance between you and the boss, then start hammering their heads. Once you get to the point where they are trying to rupture and heal themselves, they will be much more exposed. This gives you a chance to pick the boss or one of his followers as they try to take cover.
As you roam the ground floor of the station, it's easy to catch them in enclosed spaces that are prime targets for grenades. If you're able to sneak up on them, just wait for them to enter a more closed room or hallway, throw a grenade, then head for an exit. They will either try to rush you or stop to heal, leaving them very briefly vulnerable for further attack. If you choose to force them to fight indoors, be sure to push the advantage that confined space gives you. When their health is low, Sanitar and his guards try to evade combat and find a place to heal themselves. When they are inside the complex, it is most likely in an open room or outside through a window. Either way, another grenade or a headshot will get them to work quickly.
Because Sanitar roams the station, there are often standard Scavs that can cause a problem. They aren't as dangerous as the boss and his guards, but they can still be a problem if you let them sneak up on them while fighting the boss. Watch out for Scavs in the area and shoot them down before they become a distraction. If you don't kill any Stray Scavs, they'll alert other enemies in the area and try to rush you. Sanitar will use this distraction to his advantage and ambush you.
